For your environmentally-minded friends who insist upon natural products that give back, you can’t go wrong with anything from The Body Shop. The Body Shops also doesn’t allow any animal testing.
The Body Shop’s exclusive holiday scents are a warm and sensual, Spiced Vanilla, a spicy, Candied Ginger and a tart and sassy, Cranberry Joy.
One of the first cranberry-scented products I ever reviewed was from a holiday collection called “Cranberry” from The Body Shop. The tart, energizing scent was so great, I only used the body cream I received on special occasions, and kept it was past it’s prime (but I didn’t care)! Over the years, there have been many different cranberry versions, but to my nose, it is the quintessential holiday scent! This season, there is the Cranberry Joy collection. Stand outs include a 1.69 oz. Cranberry Joy hand cream, a 8.4 fl oz. shower gel (soap-free and moisturizing with cranberry extract and community fair-trade honey). There is also an 8.4 fl oz. moisturizing shimmer lotion that banishes dry skin and leaves a slight shimmer thanks to cranberry seed oil and community fair-trade shea butter. If money is really tight, a tin of Cranberry Joy lip balm offers an eye-catching round of There is also a Cranberry Joy Body and Lip Care collection ($45, a $51 value) that includes lip balm, body scrub, body butter and shower gel (see photo). All of these plus a few additional Cranberry Joy items are cheerfully packaged in jars, tubes and bottles, festively enrobed in red and peach with a cute graphic of cranberries, best of all Cranberry Joy smells tart and energizing, the perfect pick-me-up for men or women.
If you love the tart scent of ginger, you will love The Body Shop Candied Ginger Collection. The scent is redolent with a spicy and warm ginger fragrance that smells delicious like a creamy, chai latte and a lot better for your skin It’s nice for guys, too. The beautifully boxed Candied Ginger Shower, Scrub & Moisture Set above in the photo is just $25.00 and there are other gift sets from $25-$45, and also plenty of individual products to make your holidays merry and bright.
Finally there is Spiced Vanilla, and this is not just a plain ol’ vanilla product (pun intended). It is scented with vanilla extract and a hint of spice to create an unusually creamy but not cloyingly sweet vanilla. There are more than 17 different products in the Spiced Vanilla line including a lip balm and a home fragrance oil that make perfect stocking stuffers.
There are so many different products in these three lines that I can’t review them all, but if you can’t decide which scent to savor, get the Festive Hand Cream Trio which offers a 1 fl oz. hand cream in a handy flip top tube that showcases all three scents and costs $25 (a $30 value).
…and if you are really stumped, a bargain at just $16.00 (or even better, two for $20.00) are beautiful, boxed, scented candles from The Body Shop. These white candles in clear glass votives are well scented, and arrive in colorful cartons (using materials from well managed forests, to help protect the biodiversity of the planet). Candles are one-size-fits-all gifts that everyone loves, but not every scented candles sets the mood or brings the smile you are hoping for. Fair trade soy oil from Brazil, plus the promise that nothing is tested on animals, makes these candles good for our Earth and communities, as well as great for holiday gifting and entertaining.
These are mostly limited edition, so visit your favorite Body Shop Boutique, or go online and see all of the holiday “booty.” It is also nice to give gifts that also give back. The Body Shop holiday gift sets feature ingredients sourced through their Community Fair Trade program which benefits some of the world’s poorest communities. Plus, when you purchase one of their ‘create your own’ bags or bowls in-store or at www.thebodyshop.com, 50% of the proceeds go to The Somaly Mam Foundation. How much better can gift giving get than this?!
