BEAUTY JACKPOT! QVC Beauty Booty for the Holidays and Beyond @QVC

QVC  is known for all sorts of fashion, housewares, and lifestyle items, but they have also become a formidable source of beauty products from the best of the best beauty brands on the market, in all price points.   Although women who live in large urban areas can find just about any brand, including the new and boutique brands, those who don’t have that kind of access, or anyone who is just buy or hates shopping (especially during the holidays) or who are just busy and unable to find the time to shop, will think they’ve hit the jackpot when they check out QVC and discover the treasure trove of beauty booty they offer for the holidays, and all year long.

QVC’s products are always available as long as you have a phone or the internet, but there are other good reasons to count on QVC for your beauty needs.   QVC has a lot exclusive products that your local stores (and even some of the other big online retailers) will never get.  QVC also has specials that make a bargain-hunter’s heart, race!  For the holidays, there are gift sets galore, some with exclusive products and many on sale or at a great value.  If you like to watch television hosts and hostesses, watch QVC on television. But if that’s not your thing, you can order online and even download a variety of QVC apps to your iPhone®, iPad™, BlackBerry®, and more, that give you an inter-active experience. Order items and watch live TV even when you’re on the go.  Beauty booty is just a phone call away which is great, especially when you’re too busy to shop in person.  If you’ve ever ordered something you really wanted, at 1am while drinking wine in your PJs, you’ll know that it is a tempting experience!  The QVC web site is easy to negotiate, and it loads very quickly. If you don’t really like what you’ve purchased or have second thoughts (after too many glasses of wine you got carried away), QVC offers a Risk-Free 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee (unless otherwise stated). You’ll be able to send something back for an exchange or full refund of the purchase price (minus the applicable Q Return Label fee).  Even my most risk-averse friend who won’t shop online anywhere else, knows QVC is a safe place to shop.  The company has been honored 10 times with BizRate’s Circle of Excellence distinction and has also received’s Trusted Store Seal, a prestigious vote of customer confidence awarded to online merchants.

Mally Roncal Lipgloss Library with 10 lip colors, for the holidays from QVC

At the QVC beauty round-up event last May, The Advice Sisters got a chance not only to see and sample a very impressive variety of beauty brands and products, I also got a chance to meet the experts and creators of these brands. As a beauty reviewer, this is a an amazing opportunity.  My original intention was to write about a lot of products individually, but there are so many wonderful ones to share. is featuring plenty of other QVC products in other gift guides in the coming weeks (check out the review of Mally Roncal’s Lip Gloss Library with 10 lip colors), but here are some of the stand-out beauty products I saw a the editor’s preview (and a list of other, recommended QVC beauty must-haves):

Who doesn’t want sleek, gorgeous, blow-outs.  But not everyone can afford the luxury of this type of pampering, every week.  $44.00 brings you a luxe duo of products from Alterna, a luxe hair care line. The Alterna Caviar Perfect Iron Spray and Blowout Creme Duo ($430.00) won’t take the place of an actual professional stylist, but will help make your DIY blow-outs, easier and more satisfying.  Caviar Perfect Blowout Creme adds shine and makes hair sleeker, while the Caviar Perfect Iron Spray’s heat-activated formula locks in moisture, sealing and smoothing the hair cuticle to eliminate frizz and split ends.  Start by applying a small amount of Caviar Perfect Blowout Creme to towel-dried hair before blow-drying, and style as desired (*you can also apply it to dry hair to smooth frizz, and tame flyaways). Then, for more smoothing and anti-frizz, apply Caviar Perfect Iron Spray one section at a time to clean and dry hair, prior to using heat-styling tools. This set is a value, and it includes a 3-fl oz Caviar Perfect Blowout Creme and 4.1-fl oz Caviar Perfect Iron Spray.  Alterna products have no:  Parabens,  Sulfates,  Synthetic Dyes,  Petrochemicals,  Phthalates,  GMOs
or Triclosan. What the products do have is actual caviar extract, plus other good stuff like antioxidant rich rhodiola extract and vitamin C to shield hair from thermal styling damage, vegetable proteins to add shine and strengthen hair, and linseed oil and algae extract smooth and soften hair from root to tip. Visit QVC to see all the amazing products and gift-ables, or go right to the sales page for this duo.

I have always had a girl crush on the super talented Poppy King!  Thanks to her beautiful reds, I finally got over my fear of wearing deep lip colors.  Now, Poppy King has a trio of  New York City-themed lipsticks that will be collectibles, for sure. The set called Liptropolis I$48.00) is her first volume in her lipstick library series. The three featured shares are; Central Park (a deep, creamy coral),  Central Park, a deep berry red, and Upper East, a light, ladylike nude pink.  All three feature build-able color and lip-loving ingredients including shea butter, avocado oil, and jojoba seed oil.  The set is packaged in a fun, hard-sided “book” with art deco metallic design (featuring a big lipstick super-imposed on a fantasy building from “Gotham”).  All three of the lipsticks are in uber-chic, matte pewter compacts.  This set just oozes glamour, and there’s nothing nicer than a Lipstick Queen lipstick.  Everyone on your gift list (and you, of course) will want one of these. Get it directly on QVC.

I’ve enjoyed WEN hair care products ever since I was  introduced to it at last year’s QVC Beauty event.  But it really was a bit of a thrill to actually meet  Chaz Dean (owner of WEN Haircare).  You may not have the opportunity to meet Chaz in person or have him personally use his products on your hair as he did on mine, but you can enjoy the products. Chaz is so nice, but so are the WEN hair care products. One to try for the holiday is the  Six Thirteen Replenishing Treatment Mist ($26.00 4 oz.) which you can see in the white spray pump bottle in the middle of the photo, above.   This spray gives your entire face, hair and body a pick me up.  Use it  to revive and restyle your hair or as a lightweight conditioner, or mixed in with your own leave-in conditioner to create volume and body. It really hydrates dry or damaged, frizzy hair.  Spritz it on, brush or comb it through, and watch your frizz literally disappear in front of your eyes. Try the nicely scented WEN shampoos and conditioners, too. Check out WEN on QVC

I really enjoy energetic makeup artist Laura Geller. She is a singular sales force at editor’s previews. Laura is soenthusiastic about her own products when she is personally demonstrating them, you leave being very excited about them, too!  For example, QVC offers a Laura Geller Mix-n-Match, Dream Creams Concealer & Highlighter ($29.00) bthat is so versatile. The Dream Cream Concealer and Highlighter Palette come with four stripes of customizable pigment, and it is available in two shades: Porcelain/Fair and Regular/Tan. * Porcelain/Fair: ivory, pale peach, and neutral beige concealer shades; rose highlighter shade and *Regular/Tan: caramel, chestnut, and coffee cream highlighter shades; warm pink-gold highlighter shade.   Looks can be deceiving, although the product looks dry in the compact, it is smooth and creamy.  Use it to blur under-eye circles, blemishes, and uneven skin tone, plus a matching crescent of highlighter. The vitamin E-enriched formula is fortified with natural emollients that help provide smooth, even coverage. If you’ve ever had difficulty finding just the right shades, this one is definitely a mix to your own specifications, products and it’s portable, too!  Get it on QVC, here.

Maracuja oil is one of the hottest beauty ingredients around, this year.  Earlier in 2012 Tarte introduced their own precious bottle of  Maracuja oil as a QVC exclusive, and I made it part of my beauty arsenal because it really hydrates and softens skin, without making it greasy.   It is nice to see that they have opted to make a travel-size for this product.  I also learned that you can put it in your hair!  More recently, Tarte also introduced their Maracuja Miracle Foundation at QVC for $44.50 including five shades of the foundation, and a foundation brush.  There are more shades although maybe not on QVC.

If there was one singular item I wanted to tuck away in my raincoat during the holiday preview, it had to be the Sephora by OPI Merry & Bright 15-Piece Holiday Nail Collection ($44.00). 15 mini bottles of nail polish all lined up in a cute display box. Each set of five comes in three individual packages, so you can give all 15 or break them up into three separate gifts. OPI makes good quality nail color  and they apply smoothly in a couple of coats.I didn’t try these personally, but if  you are familiar with OPI you will know the colors I’m listing below (as described on the QVC Seophora by OPI sales page), but one is a QVC exclusive until 11/6/2013:  QVC What I Mean: a mocha beige shade-.  You also get: Nonfat Soy Half Caff, a sheer pale cappuccino opaque shade; A True Romantic, a sheer cool light pink shade; Keep Me On My Mistletoes, an opaque champagne gold shade with fine glitter; Under My Trench Coat, an opaque light gray khaki shade with metallic gold; Looks Like Rain Dear, a gold and silver micro glitter shade with holographic chunky glitter; Sample Sale, a warm candy apple red shade; And a Cherry On Top, an opaque, vivid maraschino shade; What Aura Gonna Wear?, a hot pink shade; Metro Chic, an opaque smoke shade with hint of opaque purple; Henna-Thing is Possible, a metallic fuchsia shade; Just a Little Dangerous, an opaque metallic amethyst shade; It’s Bouquet With Me, a sheer violet shade with opaque silver glitter; Break A Leg-Warmer!, a charcoal shade; and; Mermaid to Order, an opaque metallic turquoise green shade. There’s enough in this set to keep a nail polish fan going all year long!
