Elegant, shiny gold compacts with a tiny silver of clear tinted plastic at the base. Smooth, round, tortoise-tinted compacts with the feel of a river stone, filled with beautiful, multi-shade bronzer. These are just two of the “splendid” makeup items in Clarin’s Summer 2013 Colour Collection called: “Splendours.” This scintillating collection gives you beautiful (and practical) makeup items you will continue to reach for, even after the sun starts setting earlier and earlier and the leaves start falling. We are also including some must-have products for sexy skin (because you’re showing a lot more of it, now)
A standout in this collection, at least for The Advice Sisters, are the Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm Splendours ($ 26.00). These are a combination of transparent tints and a repairing lip balm that smooths and plumps. You’ll get color, lightened up for the warmer months. The four tints are: 05 – Crystal Rose 06 – Crystal Mandarin 07 – Crystal Gold Plum 08 – Crystal Berry. If you want to try trendy orange, but don’t want something too bright, we suggest Crystal Mandarin as your perfect choice! These lipstick balms look almost “delicious,” but while they are fun and unusual, they also do good things to pamper your lips and give them a gorgeous, glossy, sheer/semi-sheer tint (depending upon how much you want to add). Make sure to press your lips together a few times to get a smooth application of color and balm. *there is also an Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Gel ($22.00) in a tube, with transparent color combined with balm, available in Crystal Pink and Crystal Plum.
For those who are smart enough to know that a real tan is not a safe thing, Clarins has come up with a truly beautiful way to fake it. Their Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact ($35.00) is a bit of a bargain, as it is generously sized. The richy embossed palette has rose, medium bronze and peach shimmer shades within. Swirl a fluffy brush into the compact and give your skin a natural glow that is mostly matte (only the peachy middle is really shimmery). You can make it medium to medium/dark (depending upon how much you layer it) and yet, it stll managed to look “natural.” You know that a powder “fake bake” is the smart and beautiful way to glow!
It isn’t in the Splendours Collection but definitely “faux tan-worthy” is Clarins Self-Tanning Instant Gel. will help you get that perfect glow you’ve been craving all winter. Easy to apply, this lightly scented (not bad at all) non-oily self-bronzer for both face and body gives you a credible glow in about six hours. There is a limited jumbo size this year (4.2 fl. Oz. – $35 or 7 fl. Oz. – $45,oo).
The other items in the Clarins Splendours Collection (we didn’t sample these but we know they’re Clarins quality, so they’ll be great) are: Colour Quartet & Eye Liner Palette ($42.00). This palette has four eye shadows and one eyeliner: Copper Gold, Pale Gold, Pink Gold, Brown, Intense Plum Eyeliner. Wonder Waterproof Mascara ($25.00)
Not into tan but want a shimmer to your skin? The Advice Sisters like Clarins Shimmer Body Oil ( $32.00). You’ll get not a hint of tint, but you will get skin that softly glows with a bit of fragrance and of course, hydration (thanks to hazelnut oil). The liquid is shimmery (but not too), and kisses skin to pamper it. Mostly, this rejuvenates dry skin and it is particularly nice after a long day at the beach, or before a hot date. The fragrance (Essential oils of ylang ylang and tonka bean mixed with grapefruit and mandarin) is very subtle (as is the shimmer effect thanks to golden perle), but you’ll feel like a pampered princess, and your skin will feel soft and smooth. It’s a little indulgence that gives you a lot of satisfaction!
As long as we’re talking about products to make skin, sensational, two must-haves froms Clarins that help make your legs, lovelier are their Smoothing Body Scrub for a New Skin (with Bamboo Powders) to soften, smooth and firm ($36.00 6.9 fl. oz) and for those who believe nothing is worse than cellulite: Body Lift Cellulite Control that targets early and stubborn cellulite ($68.00 6.9 fl. oz. ).
The peachy Smoothing Body Scrub looks ladylike, but it’s no lightweight. It easily and quickly sloughs off rough, flaky surface cells and impurities that make faux tanners uneven, and natural skin look bumpy, dry and dull. Used twice a week, your legs will look soft and smooth. Beauty Tip: After exfoliating, smooth on the Spendours Shimmery Body Oil…beautiful!!!!!.
We can’t lie: cellulite is really difficult to eradicate. You need time and patience, and a product that has ingredients to speed your results. But if you want to battle the bumps on your hips, buttocks and thighs, it can’t hurt to try something new. Clarins calls the Body Lift Cellulite Control a slimming treatment that prevents and corrects the appearance of cellulite. If you combine it with a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise, you may find your cellulite on the run. But even if you don’t get rid of it entirely, you will feel empowered that you’re doing all you can to make your body, even better, and your skin will look more fabulous, as well as the product hydrates and softens skin, too.
Key ingredients include Celosia Cristata Extract* and Aquatic Mint Extract*: Body refining plant extracts that target the fatty tissue to help prevent cellulite,; Blue Button Flower Extract*: Helps to correct the appearance of existing and stubborn cellulite; and; Baccharis Extract*: Firms and tones by supporting natural collagen production.
Apply the product every day from ankles to waist, using Clarins’ Self-Massage Body Contouring Method (you’ll get the easy instructions included in the box) and then wait (4 weeks) to see results with this method that Clarins claims is so scientifically-advanced, there are four patents, pending. If cellulite is really bugging you, this beauty from Clarins is worth a try.
