e.l.f. (Eyes Lips Face) Has a New Flagship Store, and LOTS more! @askelf #elfstudionyc

Makeup lovers, please join The Advice Sisters in this mantra:   “I am NOT a makeup snob!  I choose what works at any price.”

Think: Why spend dozens and dozens of dollars on a beauty product that works just fine, when you can spend literally, a few dollars on a beauty product that works just fine, or even much better?!  For the true beauty product devotee, and the budget-minded, and those who love a bargain even if they live in a mansion, and for those who just love the thrill of a “find,” I’ve got news for you, e.l.f. (Eyes, Lips, Face) Cosmetics delivers good quality, high performance beauty products with the thrill of getting them literally for less than a latte. How can you not love a company like this?!

The Advice Sisters believe that beauty products are a special joy, and if you can get more and better, for a lot less, why not simply gush about it?!  So that’s what I’m doing today..simply gushing about e.l.f.  I’ve known about the brand for a while, but recently, e.l.f. opened a flagship bricks & mortar store in New York City,at 741 broadway near 8th Street and Astor Place.  and I was there to celebrate and check it out.

The store is literally around the corner from the R and N subway lines, and close to most of the others.  It’s a brightly lit store that is eye-popping with color — a candy store for women who love makeup, with tons of products and colors to try. The staff is skilled and friendly. The male makeup artist with the lovely smile in the photo  showed me how to mix a concealer with a highlighter to make both work even better (a combo I didn’t ever think of even though I’ve reviewed beauty products for decades).  Nearby New York University students are going to go wild for the trends, products, and prices. And we did, too!  e.l.f. offers not just products and tools, but amazing palettes, for a literal, song.  If  you’re not “in the hood,” you can always buy these online at : http://www.eyeslipsface.com/

Here are just a few of the gazillion amazing, elf products.  Please pardon me while I grin like a loon, and run back for more!

Mineral Infused Face primer fills in fine lines and combats large pores, dry flakes and excess oil. Clear gel feels silky and lightweight and has no scent. 0.49 0z. airless pump for just $6.00. The clear gel slides on your face and feels like you’re not wearing anything, but it really helps to get those BB creams, tinted moisturizers, and foundations, to stick around. This is a must, especially on hot, humid days (and we’re due for a lot of those)!

I love click it pens for travel, and for ease of application. This Radiance Enhancer Click It Pen ($3.00 0.13 fl. oz.)  comes in two tones, Sunrise (beige-y) and Spotlight (shimmery pink).  You can use each color separately to do different things, such to highlight brow bones, cheek bones, inner corners or the eye, or cupids bow for a light-catching finis.  But you can also mix concealers to make a new color that brightens dark circles and conceals discolorations more perfectly. In my case, Spotlight mixed with a e.l.f.’s Maximum Coverage Concealer in “Sand” made an oil-free salmon tinted helper. “Sand” is best for fair to light skin tones with a neutral balance or yellow and pink undertones, but there are six different shades for just $3.00 in a nice flip top 0.70 fl oz tube.

A trio of $3.00 makeup must-haves:  A lip exfoliator isn’t the sexiest of items, but a good one can help keep your lips as one of the sexiest parts of your body (so yes, you really need to use one regularly).  This one from e.l.f. is also a great value . It’s a is a sugar scrub in a lipstick bullet form, which means it’s great for taking with you anywhere. It tastes like vanilla, but that is where the “girly,” end. This one is  fairly gritty on the lips (so be careful and follow with a good nourishing lip balm).  The product also has nurturing Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Ceresin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Tocopherol, Aspartame, and Fragrance.

Zits, happens. And, they usually arrive just when you can’t do much about them. The slimline e.l.f.  Zit Eraser however, is a $3.00 face saver. The slim, long, wanded tube with roller ball dispenses a powerful blend of 1% salicylic acid, witch hazel, camphor, tea tree oil and green tea. When you feel a zit starting to crop up you don’t have to panic, just place a thin layer on the affected area 1-3 times daily to dry it up before it has time to do major damage.  This is really a Summer must-have if you tend to get breakouts from sunscreen and sweat. At just 0.14 fl. oz. the TSA won’t take it away, either.  Both men and women will want one of these. It’s not cute-sy, just chic and discreet.

Another $3.00 wonder that I can’t believe I ever did without, is the e.l.f. studio  Eye Refresh. It arrives in a sleek, shiny, silvery, roller ball  metallic tube that dispenses. 0.38. fl. oz of a colling, brightening, frefreshing liquid that helps alleviate puffiness and dark circles. But it’s also a physical pick me up that tingles a bit and makes you feel more awake.  The formula has pomegranate, rosemary, green tea, cucmbver and grape, to hydrate and nourish the sdensitive eye area, Youc an use it as many times a day as you want, but it’s really especially good for when you’re traveling, and tired, and when you have to be “up” after a long night, illness, lack of sleep, or at the end of the day when you are going out and need a boost. For those who need to know, ingredients are: Water (Aqua), Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Mica, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract.
If you’re looking for makeup goodies, e.l.f. has plenty of beauty helpers that are just $3.00-$6.00 but they can really help you make your beauty routine easier and more effective.  One that I absolutely LOVE is the Mascara and & Shadow Shield ($3.00). This little wand has a flexible, clear, silicone top (patent-pending) with a one-hand design  by  e.l.f’s Creative Director Achelle Dunaway.  If you’re the type who always finds bits of mascara and shadow just floating everywhere after you’ve applied it, this shield is a must-have. Use one side of the shield to guard against fly-away shadow color, then clean and flip the shield to use on the other eye. Then, when you’re ready to apply mascara, clean again, and place the shield about the top lash line and hold it there to guard against mascara glopping where you don’t want it. It really works. It’s so easy, it is a no-brainer. How did we ever live without it?!

Good makeup tools make any cosmetic product look and perform better. e.l.f. has a great one!  the 11 piece brush collection $35.00 is new,  and make a great gift or a starter set for a makeup lover. Our ultra-luxe Studio Brush Collection contains 11 of our Professional Makeup Brushes, each one designed, tested and proven by a team of makeup artist pros to provide precision application every time.
