Face Stockholm’s Summer 2014 Makeup Collection Speaks Softly & Brightly

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. When it comes to Face Stockholm’s Summer 2014 makeup collection, The Advice Sisters think this photo below really says it all.  It’s bright, but it is also soft.

For those who don’t like bronzers and self tanners (I’m assuming non one is trying to actually tan by baking in the sun), you don’t have to be tan to work this look well. It is flattering to any skin tone.  One of the really nice things about Face Stockholm’s seasonal looks, and of their makeup in general, is that they have so many colors and color intensities to choose from,  that if the specific one they’re suggestion on the model doesn’t quite work for you, there’s another one that will.

Pick the pieces of this beautiful Summer 2014 makeup collection that you love, or purchase the entire thing. I’ve provided all the details, below.

Here is a chart of the actual products used on this model, to get the Summer look:

Here are details about all of the products and how to use them:

BB Natural Beauty BalmI already love the concept of the multi tasking, good for your skin, protects from the sun, BB cream, but this one goes one better. it is a BB cream in a compact. . The Face Stockholm  Natural Beauty Balm with SPF 30 ($38.00)  hydrates,  primes, and conceals in a creamy formula that can be used for sheer coverage or as a primer.  Titanium and Zinc Oxides provide UVA/UVB sun protection, while Vitamin E provides antioxidant-rich moisture and Spilanthes Flower Extract helps relax fine lines and wrinkles. There are just two shades, light and dark. The light is really more like a medium/light and not the usual Face Stockholm pure porcelain. But it is sheer, so it will work on very light to medium light skin tones. I only wish that Face Stockholm had made room in the base for a sponge, so I could take this one with me without having to bring a tool to apply it, because a BB cream in a solid form is such a great travel companion!

Mineral FoundationAdd  a loose powder mineral foundation ($30.00) in one of 6 shades from very light to dark/warm  (looks like a medium deep. Mineral makeup like this is sheer, so you can finesse the tone).  The powder is prepared with Lavender Oil and Vitamin E, providing buildable, It is non-comedogenic, talc, paraben and and oil-free. Mineral makeup does provide some natural  UVA/UVB protection but since it’s not rated, I highly encourage you to sue another product with at least SPF 20 or higher in it as well. *personally, I am not a fan of shaker jar loose powders because I am a clutz. If you use a powder foundation, but sure to close the cover tightly. Use a soft powder brush to apply it. Mineral makeup tends to be natural looking, but you can add some “build-ability” if you do it in thin layers and don’t ‘ try to glop it all on your face at once. The end result is worth it. If you have sensitive skin, dusting mineral makeup over your SPF or BB/CC?moisturizer with SPF will keep your face looking good for hours.

For eyes, it’s a modern take on a smoky eye made softer, for Summer. It features two matte powder shadows for the “smoke” and one creme for the lids. The lighter matte powder shadow is an almost medium lavender grey called “Plantina.”  Then smoke out the eye with an exceptional matte shadow that is a charcoal, but in right light, it also looks to my eye to have a hint of khaki. It’s a beautiful and unique color and a great additional to a smoky eye wardrobe. Face it: the smoky eyes is not going out of fashion, any time soon. This Summer look can be adjusted to go right into Fall.   but with the smoked out rims of your eyes there’s something quite subdued and pastel for your lids.  Krämögonskugga Dream Cream Eye Shadow ($24.00) comes in a petite pot, and it’s luminous color that is waterproof and can be worn alone, or layered under power shadow. It’s highly pigmented and long wearing, so it’s great for Summer. The color chosen for lids is called “Chintz” and it’s a slightly shimmery medium rose that adds intensity and balances the smokiness of the powder shadows.  This is a shadow you can wear “as-is” without a smokey eye, with just a regular pencil liner to make a fast and easy daytime look.

BlushFor the past couple of seasons, it seems as though blush has been viewed as optional.  But I think it really depends upon your complexion. If you are very pale, or you have mature skin, a bit of blush adds the type of heightened color that makes you look healthy and alive instead of like you had too many sleepless nights.  The soft pale pink flush on the model for Summer 2014 comes form a powder blush ($20.00) called “Sun Kissed.” It looks very pale in the compact, but adds a bit more color and will flatter pale to medium skin tones, nicely.

fce stockhom highlighter..and what would Summer be without a highlighter to add a glow, especially for those who don’t like to fake bake?  “Destiny” is a soft gold that is really a little less yellow than this photo shows.  It’s more like an “Old Gold.” You can use this creamy shimmer wherever you want to call a bit of attention : face, décolletage or shoulders. Use it to accentuate your brow and cheekbones. Or layer it under a powder shadow or blush. It’s fun to play with highlighters, but don’t over-do it. A little is sexy, a lot just shows you have no idea how to use it. Focus on one, maybe two areas and no one, and use a light touch.

freshlyPicked_hirez face stockholm lips and tips gift set matte orange

There are plenty of Nail Polish colors you can enjoy from Face Stockholm for Summer and I liked their little photo showing some of them as flower vases so much I included it here. But the must have  trend for Summer 2014 and for this collection focuses on just one color:  ORANGE.  The Lipstick shown here is a bold, bright, Matte Orange and the Nail Polish that accompanies the look is a neon orange called simple, “#58.”  But  $45.00 gets you a specially-priced gift set of the two, plus an adorable little orange velvet change purse.  The neon orange is so bright is looks like an emergency cone and it’s fabulous on fingers and toes — you will get noticed and  you can’t resist!  *Lipstick note:  I love the bold creamy orange of this lipstick, but while the fashion magazines and stylists are saying that orange will flatter everyone, you have to get the right tone and intensity.  A  bold matte orange like this might not work “as-is” for everyone despite the trend. I used a lip pencil in a rust first, then applied it, blotted, then added a gloss. You might also try adding a cooler or warmer red or pink lipstick under or over this one, or mixing it with another color you already like to make an orange that looks trendy, but also suits your personality and comfort level. No one says you can’t!
