Get Lucky, Darling @LuckyBrand #LuckyDarling

I’m sure I’m not the only one who is going to say that on a cold, Wintry day, in a room full of colorful flowers highlighting the notes in  Lucky Darling, Lucky Brand’s first fragrance (I believe since 2006′s Lucky No. 6 by Liz Claiborne)  I couldn’t help humming a bit of the Daft Punk pop song, “Get Lucky” :

” She’s up all night ’til the sun
I’m up all night to get some
She’s up all night for good fun
I’m up all night to get lucky”

The feminine, fruity floral fragrance Lucky Darling is a perfect fit with Lucky Brand’s youthful, free-spirited, denim and casual wear vibe.    If you’re the type of girl who is, in fact, “up all night “til the sun and up all night for good fun, and the happy, sunny fragrance is going to be your Winter into Spring signature.  The target is younger women, 25 perhaps to 40-ish, and that point is clearly brought home by the choice of sassy blonde Keke Lindgard as the face of the advertising campaign. Clearly, this is meant to be a fragrance for a girl who wants to be a little wild, but still “girly.”

But the presentation of a retro washed “Denim” cardboard outer carton and a similar treatment on the voluptyous bottle, with a splashy, jeweled top complete with a wide cold collar at the bottom of the topper, and dangles of chain tassel, a tiny sparkling crystal bead, and a golden leap charm, make this gussied up enough for bottle collectors of any and every age (and I say, gender).  Worthy of note is that the bottle was actually inspired by the floral elements in the fragrance. The  gold charm reflects the glamour and “notion of stardom” of the fragrance.

lucky darling perfumerThe designers got this one just right for the brand. It is a little bit boho and California girl effortless but it is also chic, and feminine.  Created by perfumer Laurent Le Guernec in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden, the fragrance itself will make a fantastic Valentine’s Day gift, both floral, and yet young and sexy.  The actual breakdown of the key note are: TOP NOTES: Ginger, juicy Mandarin, Red Currant; MID NOTES: Pink Peony, Wisteria, Orange Flower; BASE NOTES: Vetiver, Massoia Wood, Musk.

Depending upon your body chemistry Lucky Darling may remain lightly on your skin for a while.  It’s a light enough fragrance to spritz heavily now, and with a lighter hand as the Summer and warmer weather approaches. Or just spray it on your sheets and towels, in your hair, and anywhere you want someone close to you to enjoy it.  It’s not going to knock anyone over with heavy fragrance from across the room (and that’s a good) thing. I’d consider it a daytime scent for women, date night scent for younger girls.

The scent is now available in Lucky Brand stores and at Macy’s.  For more information visit: http://www.luckybrand.com/
