If you have ever enjoyed a fragrance and thought it was wonderful, but wanted to tweak it with another favorite fragrance to make it your own, you’ve gotten the blending bug! If, like me, you are a fervent fan of Lisa Hoffman fragrance jewelry, you can do just that. Lisa Hoffman’s fragrances are exotic and beautiful on their own, but she also has a wide range of jewelry items that feature lockets and charms that open to add tiny little fragrance beads (featuring Lisa Hoffman scents, of course). Once the fragrance beads are inside the charms, they infuse the air around you with the scent every time you move. It’s a romantic idea that I have loved for a long time. But now, Lisa Hoffman is helping fashionistas to blend her scents together by offering fragrance sets with her jewelry. Check out these accessories and scents!
When I first started reviewing these fragrance jewelry pieces there was just one beautiful style, a filigree gold or silvertone round charm set on a semi-precious beaded bracelet, or hung from an elegant chain or as drop earrings. But soon there were new styles. Now, there are triple crystal bracelet sets, new beads, and so much more! I won two of these beautiful crystal bracelets on an Instgra, contest and I wear them all the time!
But the most exciting development on Lisa Hoffman Beauty right now, I think are the Lisa Hoffman Beauty Bracelet blending sets. These are available in different types. For example, I love the ones with sparkling, triple-strands of champagne or smoke crystals ($50 each) and there are even larger sets that feature chain link bracelets in gold or silvertone with large, lobster claw clasps ($65.00) and removable clip charms that can be clipped onto other bracelets, handbags, wallets, belts, key chains –versatile and fun to wear just about anywhere. The rhinestone-embellished charms sparkle in the light and are so elegant! There are also fragrance locket blending sets which are also a good deal ($50.00) in gold or silver tone on chains, featuring three fragrance bead jars: the woody scent of Japanese Agarwood, the watery notes of French Clary Sage, and the Subtle Tuscan Fig.
You can purchase one of the more traditional earrings, necklaces or bracelets and blend your own scents too, by purchasing refills scent jars and mixing the various scent beads together, but the scent sets are a bargain. The Gold and Silvertone Chain Bracelet & Fragrance Sets are my new favorites, because you can remove the charms completely and use them in new ways (maybe on another bracelet you already own and love or hooked to a belt look on your pants). You get a substantial link chain bracelet, the Removable Fragrance Charm with rhinestone accents (the other charms don’t have this), a Six-Piece Fragrance Bead Blending Kit (jars) with Japanese Agarwood, Madagascar Orchid, French Clary Sage, Tunisian Neroli, Tuscan Fig and Kerala Ashok Garden (each 1g/.04oz) and a gold satin drawstring pouch to hold everything.
Here’s what Lisa Hoffman has to say about the technology involved: “Using eco-friendly materials and revolutionary technology, we’ve engineered our fragrance beads to deliver maximum fragrance in a minimalist design. The spherical shape of the beads combined with a proprietary scenting method allows for maximum fragrance throw and scent retention. What this means is that your Fragrance Jewelry was designed to be as fragrant as possible in the most efficient way.”
Although the various, individual jewelry items from Lisa Hoffman are unique and beautiful, the blending sets are a bargain. The refills jars of scent beads are available in 1/8 oz (and some of the fragrances in 1/2 oz) jars, at $20 and $40 per refill jar, but if you get the 65 bracelet blending set with six jars you get lots of fragrance options at a discount, simply by adding a few beads from a few different jars of scent.
The fragrance beads vary in size and although they’re tiny, the charms really only hold about 7-8 beads total, so your “blending” has to be considered carefully. Some of the fragrances are a bit more robust than others, but unlike the liquid versions (Eau de Parfum 2 fl. oz. $65.00) , the fragrance beads really just give off a very subtle aroma. You won’t be substituting them for liquid fragrance for your entire body. The fragrance jewelry either supplements the Lisa Hoffman fragrance you’re already wearing or it’s a way to enchant someone who is up close and personal with you, as every time you move your hand, your head, or your body, the scent beads give off a bit of the aroma you have chosen.
For blending, there is no way to make mistakes — just try blending a few different beads from different scents together and see how they smell. If you like it, save the “recipe” and if you don’t like it, separate the fragrance beads out and start again. FYI: the fragrance beads will last for a while in these charms, but you do need to replenish them, so having six jars to play with is really a bonus if you want to wear your fragrance jewelry all the time as I do.
I don’t have a specific way to blend these beads to suggest to you because everyone’s scent preferences are different, but I’ll admit to being partial to spicy/warm/woodsy scents so Japanese Agarwood is high on my list. I also really like Tunisian Neroli that combines combines Ylang Ylang, Golden Amber, and Neroli Blossoms with Lemon and Buchu Leaf. But if you are faced with all the fabulous fragrance choices and are staring at the jars, not sure how to start blending them, here are some of the Winter-centric suggestions Lisa Hoffman suggests:
Like the smell of a crackling fire? Try this! ‘the blending recipe is 2 Japanese Agarwood + 1 Kerala Ashok Garden (you can double or triple this to fill your fragrance charm or locket)
Like the smell of baking cookies” Try this! The blending recipe is 2 Brazilian Begonia + 2 Tuscan Fig (you can double or triple this to fill your fragrance charm or locket)
Like the clean crisp smell of snow in the outdoors? Try this! The blending recipe is 2 Tuscan Fig + ! Tunisian Neroli (you can double or triple this to fill your fragrance charm or locket)
If you run out of blending beads, no worries! You can buy all the jewelry items and all the refills on the Lisa Hoffman Beauty Web Site
