Holiday Gifting: Living a LUSH life!

Lush gifts are welcome all year round

There is SO much to like about Lush products. They are so natural and green, they even come with an expiration date on every product, along with the name of the person who crafted it. But the products are not just natural, they are unique. The company offers a dizzying array of gifts for the holidays in so many different scents and products, it takes LUSH four whole pages to list them all.  There is something to suit everyone, from a signature Lush bath bomb at $4.95 to a 24-item boxed and wrapped gift that is $195.00.  But there are plenty of other choices in-between.  A nice touch is that the tag tells your recipient just what’s in the colorfully wrapped boxes tied with different, pretty ribbons.

The Advice Sisters have picked out four we think are representative of the LUSH products and gift-ables. Will these be your favorites, too, or do you like something else LUSH makes even more? Please feel free to share your thoughts.

White Christmas $72.95 is a nicely boxed gift that I “soap-centric” with a number of LUSH bath bars, and every product something you would want to eat (but don’t–they’re for your body).  The set includes a Snowcake soap, the brand new Popcorn lip scrub, and some 4-season favorites: Soft Coeur, Honey I Washed The Kids, Honey Trap (lip balm), Buffy Body Butter (solid bar to exfoliate and moisturize), Vanilla Dee-Lite Body Lotion and It’s Raining Men Shower Gel!  Most of the products smell like cake, cookies, vanilla and/or honey, but the scents are sophisticated, not overly sweet. My favorite product in this set is the Lip Scrub. It’s a gentle sugar scrub that removes dead flakes so your lips are smooth, ready for lipstick, and perhaps kissing under the mistletoe. The popcorn scent makes it more fun.
All the Best is $39.95 and has six tempting treats.  If you like little things in pots and tubs, you’ll love this one. LUSH collected their customer’s favorites for soft, smooth skin. I love this gift box because it holds everything you or your lucky recipient will need to get through the harshest, driest months of Winter: January and February. There is the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, Dream Cream body lotion, and Lemony Flutter cuticle butter to moisturize, along with two lovely, limited edition soaps. Each one of the scents is distinctive, but LUSH suggests playing with them and trying some layering. TIP: no time for soaking and moisturizing? Use the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner while you’re showering and there will be no need to moisturize, afterwards. But my heart belongs to the Snowcake soap (it’s in the White Christmas gift, too). It’s a marzipan scented goodie.
Slightly less but no less impressive is the Seasons Tweetings vegan gift set for just $35.95. This gift box is also full of skin smoothing and hydrating products, but as the name suggests, it will appeal to younger women, even teens. Everyone needs to give their skin more hydration in the Winter, but you might as well make it fun to do, with great smelling products. Inside the box is once again, a Snowcake marzipan-scented seasonal soap, the  Tiny Hands moisturizer solid shaped product in the shape of (what else?) hands. There is also an  Ultrabalm multi-purpose balm, Dream Cream Body Lotion and the  “trendy-named” Twilight Shower Gel with sweet lavender.   I like tiny hands with shea butter and cocoa, and a sweet vanilla and marigold fragrance that makes handling dry cracked itchy skin, easier. The hand shape is a cute plus. Use just a little bit and let the argan oil help smooth your way to nicer looking, smoother, softer hands.
A cool Christmas gift (I mean it really is called Cool Christmas) is wrapped in metallic blue paper tied with a deep blue ribbon, and it’s just $16.95. This is the perfect gift for anyone who needs a little unisex thank you gift, a last minute gift, or hostess gift, or just a little something for yourself because after all the holiday madness, you want a little pick me up treat, too.  You’ll get it, because both products have Citrus juice and oils.  The gourmand gifts are great, but this one is all about the energizing orange!  The Snow Globe Soap is ice green with chunks of white, and also full of ylang ylang oil and vitamin D. Trot the Whoosh tub over to your freezer. It looks like blue play doh or jello in the tube, but once you lather with this citrus-y “goo” in the shower, you will perk up!
Lush has a number of charitable gift ideas as well, including their Charity Pot Body Lotion ($22.95). The lotion helps grassroots charities all over the world. It’s a moisturizer made with Fair Trade and organic cocoa butter that has a slight scent of  ylang ylang and geranium. This is a holiday staple for LUSH.  100% of the proceeds from each pot (minus the taxes) go to Lush’s Charity Pot fund to support worthy causes in animal welfare, humanitarian concerns and environmental conservation. For your vegan friends, this is a particularly great gift.

Did you love to smush Play Doh into shapes when you were a kid?  Do you kids like to smush Play Doh into shapes?  FUN is new from LUSH and it’s not really a toy, it’s a SOAP, but you can make shapes with FUN, just like you can with a modeling clay.  $6.95 brings you a 7 oz. cello wrapped log of mold-able bath soap that can be used for body, hair and bath. You can wash your hands with it, and just play around with it.  At the LUSH store I visited today, artists had created all sorts of little animals, flowers, and more, in multi-colored FUN.  At home, I pulled off a bit of the lemon/lime, citrus-y scented green log I was sent  and smushed it around.  FUN comes in five colors all with their own unique scent:  YELLOW FUN: Vanilla absolute and gardenia extract yield a marzipan aroma;  GREEN FUN: Uplifting and zingy fragrance with lemon and lime oils to awaken
the senses;  BLUE FUN: Gentle and soothing lavender and chamomile oils are perfect for irritated skin;  RED FUN: Fruity and revitalizing with orange and mandarin oils; and  PINK FUN: A sweet treat with ice-cream scented tonka absolute and warming benzoin resinoid. But the serious part of this product is that a portion of the global sales (2.5%) of FUN will go into a newly created FunD and will be distributed as grants to projects providing recreational activities for children living in difficult surroundings. *LUSH has done previous work with Japanese charities after the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster, and they have created FunD to help bring fun back to the children in Fukushima by identifying charities, community groups and parent initiatives that are providing fun-filled activities for these children.
