If you’ve been following advicesisters.net, you already know that this is the eagerly anticipated, Part III of a three-feature series previewing Maybelline’s latest and greatest. Part I was for the Face, Part II for Eyes, and now, for the lips. Honestly, I think the lip products are astounding–the very best part!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Maybelline’s Lip Stains, Lip Glosses, and Lipstick formulas. They arrive each season with stunning colors and high performance formulas that really work. For Spring 2012 I am absolutely loving NEW Maybelline New York SuperStay 10HR Stain Gloss (srp. $8.99). What’s so nifty about these are not just the 10 terrific shades, but the fact that it is a stain that looks shiny like a gloss. It isnt’ sticky, drying, cake-y…it simply glides on and leaves lips looking amazing for hours.
Applying a lip stain, especially a glossy one, could be tricky, but the spade-shaped sponge tipped wand makes it easy, and amazingly precise. With this applicator, you get the sharp line of a lip liner, without the pencil. One coat looks fine, two adds intense color that is opaque, glossy, and dramatic. I didn’t try it for 10 hours but I’ve worn it for a long time, and even after eating, it seems to stay put. What’s even better is that you don’t need to add a top coat–it’s all in one. Shiny, weightless, perfect, amazing! The hard part will be selecting your favorite SuperStay 10HR Stain Gloss colors: Pink Plush; Fresh Fuchsia; Berry Heavenly; Refreshing Red; Ruby Indulgence; Cool Coral; Luxurious Lilac; Pleasing Plum; Mauve Dream and Blissful Brown. All are universally flattering, however, the deeper shades (e.g. the reds) are especially fabulous because they look like a makeup artist applied them, and they last without running into the tiny crevices (you know where if you’ve got them). I’m just in love with these–they, well…perfect!
I love longwear lipstains, but lipsticks give you other lip options. Alas, lipstick tends to disappear quickly, but not anymore! I am so excited to tell you about the awesome longwear lipstick formula that’s new from Maybelline New York called: SuperStay 14HR Lipstick ($8.99). I’m going to tell you right now that I’d pay more than double for these–that is how impressive they are. A chunky lipstick tube with a clear barrel so you can see the color (and there are a whopping 20 to choose from) has a slant-tipped, slim line lipstick that has a slight, fruity scent and a formula that feels so silky, you’d imagine you were wearing a lip balm. But this is a newfangled longwear lipstick with intense color and moist shine. My lips looked like the ones in the television ads (you know, the ones that look impossibly moist, and perfectly colored)–I am not kidding. The color lasts and lasts (Maybelline says up to 14 hours). But the amazing thing is that the lipstick just feels so luxurious, without drying or having to add a top coat. Apparently, Maybelline uses something called “Color Keep technology” that uses the next generation of flexible resins to envelop rich pigments in a unique longwear film, so lips look good, feel good, and the color stays put. Yes, it’s pretty awesome. At under $8.99 the most difficult thing you’ll have to do with this lipstick is pick your colors. To get with the red trend, I have to recommend “Ravishing Rouge” which is a clear, bright, universally flattering red. You will feel like a movie star. But the other 19 colors are also lovely from subtle to intense. Separated by Pinks, Nudes, Reds, and Plums, you can easily find the ones you can’t live without.
Pinks: Perpetual Peony; Ultimate Blush; Pout on Pink; Fuchsia Forever; Eternal Rose
Nudes: Beige For Good; Never Ending Nude; Consistently Truffle; Lasting Chestnut; Ceaseless Caramel
Reds: Keep Me Coral; Continuous Cranberry; Ravishing Rouge; Enduring Ruby; Timeless Crimson
Plums: Infinite Iris; Till Mauve Do Us Part; Endless Raisin; Please Stay Plum; Wine and Forever
