The season for Mother Day, weddings, graduations, and other special events is fast approaching. That means, lots of “kissing” and little time to touch up lipstick. There are plenty of long wear lip products on the market, but one that really does stick around like cling wrap, is LipSense by SeneGence $22.00. *top coat and “oops” remover, additional. I actually was impressed enough to buy this product, even though it is pricier than your average lippie. But the product really does what it claims — it sticks on your lips, seemingly all day and all night. If you’re the type of person who absolutely won’t do a “sleep over” fearing that you’ll wake up in the morning with your lipstick smeared all over your face, your issue has just been solved.
There are dozens of color choices, but I have to admit that some of the ones I tried in the past were too garish, or pearly for my taste. Now, there’s one exclusively designed by Lauren Winans, a singer/songwriter who wanted a stick-to-her-lips, product, during long recording sessions and of course, live performances. Her custom shade Luv It” is a shimmery (but not TOO obvious) peachy-pink that is not terribly deep, just enough to add a blush to lips. In fact, I think of this color as a shimmery lip blush.
One thing about LipSense is that it requires some thought when applying it (there is an “Oops” remover product if you need it). Once on, it’s there, until you eat something oily, or it wears off. The color is applied with a traditional, wanded applicator and tube of product, but it tingles a bit going on. Apply one coat, and then wait a few seconds for it to dry, then add another, and perhaps, a third. The end result is beautiful color that will last, but the downside is that it also feels a bit “tacky.” To eliminate some of that feel, there is a top coat of moisturizing Gloss $18.00 (it contains shea butter to help minimize dryness, and to seal in the color) that smooths out the feel of the product on your lips, but adds only a moist shine, not a hundred watt shine. You can also get a matte or shimmer top coat, too.
Another issue that you need to deal with when applying something this long lasting to your lips, is the condition of your lips. If your lips are chapped, the color will stick to the tiny bits of skin and it looks nasty. You really should exfoliate your lips before you use the product. Use plenty of lip balm too, because long wearing lip colors are more drying than the traditional lip bullet. If you need to correct the application or you want to remove the lip color, use the LipSense Oops! Remover (for an additional $10.00) that works like a nail polish corrector pen. You (gently) rub it on the lip color you want removed, then tissue it off.
Who is this really for? The obvious answer is anyone who doesn’t want to deal with re-applying lipstick, but many celebrities and news-people wear it on camera and on the red carpet. It’s not inexpensive, and it’s not the most pleasing and luxurious feel when it comes to lip products, but if you love deep lip colors and your lip products tend to “bleed” into fine lines and winkles, or if you just don’t want to have to re-apply lipstick (e.g. brides and for travel or a long day at a seminar), this is a perfect product choice. You can get a set of a color, gloss and an Oops Remover, for $45.00, but the chances are you’ll want more than one color. Try layering different ones to make your own, signature color! Also this waterproof, kiss-proof and smear-proof product has no lead, no wax and they don’t test on animals!
When you need your lipstick to last, LipSense makes a whole lot of sense! SeneGence’s full line of long-lasting cosmetics and skincare are sold through a network of Independent Distributors. Visit http://www.senegence.com/
I admit that I’ve never heard of Lauren Winans, but she’s a pop singer and songwriter who is also a self-professed “girly girl.” Here is the commercial she shot for Lipsense and you can also click here to listen to her single: ”You’re Gonna Luv it”
