We hope your holidays were lots of fun, but now it’s time to re-think, re-group and re-new. Yes, it’s “new year new you, time”
Now that buying gifts for the holidays is over (unless you are a total procrastinator) it’s time to focus on someone else — that person is you! So here’s some beauty”news” about what’s new: Focus on your brows with Maybelline’s Brow Drama Pro Palette, because they’re the new emphasis on your face. Keep your face from looking Winter weary and knock out signs of aging while keeping your skin smooth and soft, with a brilliant new mask for Talika. Brighten puffy and tired eyes with an all natural eye cream from Juara. Protect your skin every day with Heliotripe 360 sun screen, because Winter skin needs SPF protection, too. These products are all unique and they make sense for early 2016 (and beyond, of course).
Brows are the new “Smoky Eye”: For years it’s been all about the eyes. We all know make up artists focus on the eyes first, but these days it is your brows that take center stage. As with hair styling products, you can’t just go “au natural,” with this new emphasis — you need products made just for grooming brows.
Now, you don’t have to scramble and dig through your cosmetic bag or drawer looking for the spoolie, brushes, wax, powders to create the drama your eyebrows deserve to accentuate your eyes. Maybelline has launched a NEW all in one kit – the BROW drama PRO PALETTE (approx. $12.00) in four shades: Blonde, Auburn, Soft Brown and Deep Brown.
I tried the Blonde kit. It was easy to apply and the outcome was the ultimate brow look that made my eyes pop! The kit comes with a spoolie, double ended firm angle brush, sculpting wax, highly concentrated lasting pigment powder and highlighter.
Here’s how to use this clever kit: To transform your brows, you start with the spoolie, the little brush that blends and brushes hairs into the place. Then take the angle brush applying the sculpting wax blending it to set the shape and hold the brow in place. After the sculpting wax, use the other end of angle brush to apply pigment powder on the brow to deepen color and add fullness. Finish off applying the highlighter power to the brow bone to accentuate the arch. We applied the Brow Palette on eyebrows that were not recently shaped. Amazingly, the Brow Palette looks natural and, after using the sculpting wax, my brows looked “tamed,” as if they were professionally shaped.
The kit is small so you can carry it anywhere for a quick brow transformation. A bold, thick brow is the look of the runway, and you can do it yourself. I was surprised how easy it was to work on my brows and make them stand out beautifully. The Brow Drama Pro Palett ecan be found in the makeup department with other Maybelline products at drugstores, department stores, and mass market retailers. A Mask That’s a new must-have: Is there a miracle cure that can create a younger, better version of our skin? Maybe not exactly, but each year we get excited about new products developed in the world based on natural ingredients that can help turn back the hands of time, at least a little, or temporarily.
Historically, if we look at the skin of Egyptian Goddesses, the pure porcelain faces are a dream ideal. In reality, we’re living with stress, and exposed to various environmental saboteurs. Thankfully Talika, developed by Danielle Roches, has added yet another great facial mask to their collection. This one is an Anti-Aging Bio Enzymes Mask® (Srp. $12.00).
Dr. Danielle Roches launched Talika Paris in 1948 after seeing results of treating wounds with plant extracts and natural ingredients. We’ve been fond of their products but this particular one wowed us, The Bio Enzymes Mask® is made of an ultra- thin bio cellulose base which is 100% biocompatible with the skin that applies very nicely and fits to the face. The bio cellulose is 100% natural nano-fiber created from the enzymatic fermentation of flowers, fruits, honey and wine. In order to apply the bio cellulose, Talika uses a high tech delivery method and the thinnest type of fiber available able to hold 100 times its weight in active ingredients in its 3D structure. The key ingredients are hyaluronic acid and collagen, adenosine, complex of 16 plants and vitamin B3. Every one of these ingredients aids in a different way so you see reduced wrinkles, smooth and moisturized skin, regenerate and brighten, combat dark spots and heal.
This is a great value, considering the results. After about 30 minutes, we truly saw a lifting result. With regular use, we have no doubt this would help skin to be visibly firmer. If you need a quick lift for the day and want even better results over time, we highly recommend it. The Talika Anti-Age Bio Enzymes Masks are available at many specialty drugstores, Walgreens/Duane Reade and spas throughout the United States or shop on www.talika.com.
Bright Eyes Ahead: Continuing with our excitement to always find a product to lift, firm and brighten, we tried Juara Miracle Tea Complete Eye Crème ($48.00). If you read about use of tea in skincare products, you probably have found there are multiple options, but did you know that “Juara” means Champion or Winner in Indonesian?
You’ll be winning the beauty race against time with the Juara Miracle Tea Complete Eye Creme ($48.00) that we think should be on your list to try for new year, new you. Juara products use high quality raw materials that are then custom formulated to restore and enhance the skin’s natural balance. The products are 100% vegetarian skincare, free of harsh chemicals, artificial colors or animal products.
What’s special and new about this eye cream? The Juara Miracle Tea Complete Eye Crème combines fermented sweet black tea and a unique complex and active botanicals to brighten, firm and hydrate. Used regularly it can really help diminish the look of fine lines, dark circles and puffiness.
We like the brown and gold Juara packaging, and the fact that the eye crème is dispensed via a nice pump that limits waste — you get a measured amount of the eye crème –just the right amount. The product has a slight tea scent and a medium texture. It was easy to apply, and we did start seeing less puffy eyes that looked a bit brighter after using it for just a short period of time. If you prefer all natural products, give Juara a try. Check out this product and all their lovely natural products at www.juaraskincare.com . It might not be a major miracle, but we’ll take even this little one, thank you!
Sun Screen Every Day No Excuses: The Advice Sisters always remind you to protect the skin from the sun! If you read advicesisters.com regularly, you already know that we warn you that the sun’s damaging rays are hitting your skin in the Winter as well as in the Summer, even if it’s cloudy and cold outside. If you are on the water or in the snow, the sun reflects off of those even more strongly. Of course, just walking outside or sitting near a window can impact your skin as well.
Over the years, we have provided introductions to all sorts of new skin protection, but for those who really want a natural sun screen, add Heliotop™ 360 sunscreen SPF 50 ($30.00 1,7 fl. oz) to your face, and carry it along, whether you’re heading to a beach vacation, or just talking a walk in your town, or driving.
Heliotop™ 360 Sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen formulated with Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide featuring a unique botanical antioxidant: Fernblock Plypodium leucotomes extract, This is a fern, native to Central and South American that has been used for centuries as a remedy for skin-related conditions. It protects from the harsh UV rays thanks to organically grown plants. The SPF50+ worked the first hour we tried it on a recent trip to Florida. It is a white, light lotion with a nice smell for use by men or women. It will not clog your pores or make you smell like a coconut, either!
We think you will like this new sunscreen which gives you whopping SPF 50 protection, in a pleasant formula. Now there’s a sun screen you can enjoy, and use every day: no excuses!
