October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Scunci Has the Power of Pink!

My favorite cousin, who was also an award-winning writer, passed away from breast cancer before she even turned 50.  And I can’t go through a single month, let alone the month of October (designated as Breast Cancer Awareness month) wondering what else she might have achieved, if breast cancer hadn’t killed her.  Hardly anyone is completely untouched by this terrible disease.  Whether a family member, a friend, a co-worker or someone else you know has suffered from breast cancer, many more women survive today thanks to education, early detection, and better ways to treat the disease.

This October, as in years’ past, Conair and Scuunci, (a division of Conair), will be offering a selection of hair accessories through their “Power of Pink” program.  They take some of their favorite products, and “pink” them up with special editions in varying shades of pink and black. The product will make you look good, and help support the work of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  This is the fifth year that Scunci and Conair have participated in helping to stamp out breast cancer through this program, with a portion of the proceeds from these special products, donated to the Conair will donate a minimum of $100,000 to BCRF.   Here are some of my favorites, although I have to apologize for the photos….I’m still living out of a suitcase and a box while my apartment is being renovated, and am left with few resources to photograph and upload my own photos.   I’m making do with photos that may not be the actuals. But you’ll get the idea….

this is last year’s photo, but the new set has soft grey elastics along with the red and black ones, and the same, cute, rhinestone dangle charm!

If you’re thinking of getting some new hair accessories, think about purchasing these very special items, and do something beautiful for women.  For example, this card of 36 pink, grey and black hair elastics are just $3.99 per pack of 32. One comes festooned with a little pink crystal ribbon “dangle.”  All are smooth and “ouchless” so they won’t get stuck in your hair.  The holidays are just a few months away. These make a great stocking stuffer (who doesn’t love hair accessories?) so stock up now.   Scunci is also offering a trio of Head Wraps for $3.99 in black, grey and (of course) pink. The pink one is embroidered with a little, breast cancer ribbon.
For those who like something trendy and fun Scunci Hair Streaks come one to a package for just $4.49. These clip on hair extensions are soft pink and quicky attach to your own hair for a quick pop! of pink.  The ones shown here aren’t the special, breast cancer PINK edition, but you’ll get the idea…just clip and add a new look, in an instant. Remove it instantly, too, but simply unsnapping the clip.
For those who just want a great hair tool that supports the cause, you can’t do any better than one of the Conair brushes at just $5.99 each, with a little crystal-studded breast cancer ribbon embedded into the handle. If you’re looking to replace your Paddle Brush, Cushion Brush or Medium Vent Brush, you can’t do any better than to pick these up while they are still available.
As Babe Rizzuto, Vice President of Public Relations for Conair has been quoted as saying: “True beauty comes from within, but gorgeous hair can’t hurt.”
Well said!
Sunci and Conair products are available in drug and mass market retailers nationwide.
Since its inception, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® has raised more than $144 million – nearly $27 million in fiscal year 2006 alone – to support clinical and genetic research at medical institutions across the globe conducting the most advanced and promising breast cancer research that will help lead to prevention and a cure in our lifetime.   For more information visit www.bcrfcure.org   You can read more about Conair’s contribution to the Breast Cancer research foundation at:  http://www.conair.com/pro/bcrf/index.html
