Some things you just don’t want to take for granted. Nail Lacquers by M.A.C Cosmetics, for one. They have a dazzling collection of “lips & tips” that are not just the limited editions, coveted by collectors, but tried-and-true classics that M.A.C. fans can’t live without.
But now, there are a whopping 31 more M.A.C. Nail Lacquers ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) being added to the permanent, I’ll be there for you always, range of colors. Some are brand new, some are beloved parts of previous, limited edition collections. Obviously, I didn’t try them all, but I did get four: Snob, Girl About Town, Skin, and Fiestaware. I’ll be providing a few words about each, with some personal comments about the ones I actually tried.
Before I do, let me say that I am a big fan of the M.A.C. polishes. There is such a wide variety of formulas that don’t chip easily, and that won’t let you down. But not all the formulas are created equal. I like a glossy polish in an intense shade that needs no coaxing to coat my nails, but some of the colors need to be layered. What’s great and what’s not is highly subjective. Some of the more sheer colors may be the thing you love the most. When you’re paying $16.00 a bottle, the choice to “invest”in a specific color has to be a personal one.
Here is a look at what’s going to be in the permanent collection, new colors noted, and the four I tried, with comments:
■Fiestaware looks like a light peach, but it’s a tangerine orange with a cream finish. *this is a bright orange, and perfect for Summer’s citrus trend. you’ll need a few coats to get an intense finish, but it’s worth it
