A High Tech Mirror That Does So Much More than Help You Look Good
review by Alison Blackman
For the selfie generation, a mirror has to be more than just a place to gaze at one’s reflection. The iHome Vanity Speaker is so advanced, it makes Snow White’s Evil Queen and her magic mirror pale in comparison (after all, hers could only say that she was the fairest of them all).
This iHome high tech vanity mirror is blue-tooth enabled, letting you play music, charge your phone (and talk on it too, via hands-free speakerphone), with both a magnifying and a regular LED mirror with beautiful full spectrum color while you apply your makeup, fix your hair, (or if you’re really vain, just gaze at your own reflection) . A USB charging port is in the back, as is the power cord slot. There is a rechargeable battery, so the iHome vanity mirror can operate up to four hours while unplugged, and the mirror will turn itself off in about 25 minutes if you forget to do it yourself.
Yes, you’ll not only be the fairest of them all, but you’ll have the most advanced vanity mirror, too!
On the surface of things, the iHome Vanity Mirror (I reviewed the iCVBT7 model) is simply an attractive, revolving, mirror on an elegant, silvery base, The front has a rubberized panel with the controls embossed on it, and they’re easy to understand and use. Press the light switch and the light will power up in two setting to bright daylight, and then all the way down to off. Press the power switch for bluetooth (pairing is easy). But the large mirror won’t take up any more room on your dressing table or desk than any other vanity mirror.
The iHome Vanity Mirros comes in three different sizes. I sampled the 9-inch iCVBT7, with 7x magnification with a silver metal base, but there is also a 6-inch model with 5x magnification, available in white (iCVBT5W) or silver (iCVBT5S).
While I was testing the iHome mirror, a friend called. I had forgotten to UNpair the speaker that was in another room, and I heard her voice, clear as a bell, from that room. I hurried in, and laughed as I told her I was talking to her from my mirror. Seriously though, it’s a time saver if you’re trying to get out the door and someone calls at the last minute, or you need to call someone and you’re running late. This has happened to me numerous times. The ability to listen to music through the speaker is a nice touch, too.
