by Alison Blackman
Maybelline New York has some really unique and trendy products for Fall 2016. I selected six of the latest and greatest to share with you. Get ahead of the curve and flaunt these trends now!
A Better, Beautifying Powder:
A beautifying new skin saver for shiny skin has arrived! Maybelline New York SuperStay Better Skin Powder (.Srp. $10.99) controls shine even on the oiliest of skin, and yet it is more than a powder. It’s a foundation-powder in a portable compact! Following on the heels of Maybelline’s SuperStay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Foundation ( a liquid formula beauty treatment with a brightening antioxidant Actyl-C, a durable form of vitamin C), I couldn’t help but get excited about this lovely pressed powder.*Both products are non-comedogenic, allergy tested and safe for sensitive skin.
The mirrored compact arrives with a bold label, but you can pull it away and “chic” it up with a pristine, white, rectangular compact with oval edges. Everyone will wonder what boutique brand you’ve bought!
The real feature is the product. A powerhouse of all-day oil control and semi-opaque coverage that has salicylic acid so it’s good for acne prone skin (less breakouts, people). The mattifying powder smooths skin and evens out skin tone really well.
Choose from 8 colors light to dark. Like any other product you buy either online or in the drugstore, knowing your color tone is key. I tried “Nude Beige” which worked fairly well even though my skin is fair and freckled. “Natural Beige” the next one deeper, was too deep. “Porcelain” is the lightest for the fairest of the fair. I didn’t try “Classic Ivory” but the tone seemed a bit too cool. The color charts are not as good as your own eye. Go to the drugstore or your favorite mass market retailer, and
If your skin is oily, this formula will be fabulous for you, but if your skin is mature or dry, use a moisturizer underneath or moisten the sponge first. But this powder is so good, it feels like you have absolutely nothing on your face. If you’re using a sunblock underneath this one, it’s a bonus.

SuperStay Better Skin Foundation and SuperStay Better Skin Powder launched in July.
Eye Bling (These are SO Cool)!
I think I could be a bit “mental” for this “heavy metal eye bling.” Yes, I mean obsessed!
The new Maybelline New YorkColor Tattoo Liquid Eye Chrome ($9.99) is a wanded tube of metallic makeup that melts into a glittery sheen and stay-put! It’s intense liquid eyeshadow with a highly reflective finish.
If you love bejeweled eyes, this is the way to get them.
I tried “Silver Spark” a sterling silver metallic that really sparkles, and Bold Sapphire which is more metallic, less glittery, These slide on smoothly but slightly sheer. If you want to layer more intensity, these dry super quickly so work fast.
The good news is that they also stay put, so if it’s hot, or you’re in a club and dancing, they won’t melt into your eyes. If you really want to wear them for a long time (Maybelline New York claims 24-hour wear if you’re going to keep your makeup on that long, but I don’t recommend it) make sure you remove this makeup completely at the end of your day or evening (I found micellar waters work wonders to gently but thoroughly remove hard to remove makeup like this). If you are wearing them during the day they aren’t going to crease and quit on you.
Try any or (or all) of 10 sparkly shades: Gilded Rose, Beige Luster, Khaki Kool, Fool’s Gold, Bronze Sheen, Silver Spark, Gunmetal, Electric Emerald, Bold Sapphire, and SharpPurple.
Lippies With No Need to Fuss or Blot: Color Jolt & Shine Shot:
There are 8 outstanding shades: StrippedDown, Never Bare, Fight Me Fuchsia, Orange Outburst, Talk Back Red, Red-dy Or Not, BerryNaughty, Violet Rebel. These are silky, so easy to use, and they have a slight citrus scent. They slide over imperfections, flawlessly. “Talk Back Red” is my new favorite red: clear, bright, bold–universally flattering.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, “Stripped Down” a nude beige, gave my lips a better than bare moist look that was enough color to be trendy and still look like I had a nude lip that made a statement.
What I love so much is that the formula looks matte on your lips but it’s moist. If you want to amp up the shine factor, slick on Maybelline New York Shine Shot ($5.99), a The wax-free formula that adds mirror-like shine. I tried “Glassy Shine” that was almost startling when added to a deep lip color, and there’s also a Prismatic Lip Topcoat, a luxed-up rose gold that imparts a warm metallic sheen. I am absolutely besotted with these new lip products that do so much for so little money!
Color Sensational Intense Lipsticks “The Loaded Bolds” are On Trend:
If you read fashion magazines or check out any of the runway looks, you know that intense color is a trend you can’t ignore and I’ve been seeing ads for Maybelline New York’s Color Sensational Lipstick The Loaded Bolds (srp. $7.49) everywhere. These lipsticks give you really head-turning, intense color, but it’s in the silkiest formula ever. The single-stroke formula means you don’t have to “scrub” that lip color back and forth to get the intensity. You need to swipe only once, thanks to a non-drying Kaolin clay base that creates wow! that’s intense! gorgeous and opaque color.
There are 20 shades from light to dark. All are saturated color and all will last, leaving a slip of stain on your lips even after the lipstick has worn off. Note that while these are intense colors, they will transfer onto anything your lips touch, If you’re kissing someone or eating, or you brush your sleeve with your lips, you’ll be leaving your signature color where your lips touch.
Lippie Mix MISTRESS:
I can’t get enough lip color. In fact, I like to change color choices during the day. But carrying around eight lip colors in my purse would be kind of crazy! Enter the new Maybelline New York Lip Color Palette ($13.99) with every trendy color you can imagine, all in one sleep palette inspired by the runway. The compact with lip brush has eight creamy , shiny, intense shades ranging from light nude to deep wine.
The only thing that would have made this palette, perfect, would have been a strip of a mirror, somewhere. But still, it’s a “ten” for its eight fabulous colors!
