essie’s silk watercolor kits 2016
I sat outside one afternoon
In an old lawn chair
And I watched the sun set off
For business west somewhere
While the sky turned watercolor fine
And gold and blue
And the stars all showed up one by one
And we waited for the moon
(from Just Like the Moon, Ilse DeLange)
The Essie Silk Watercolor Artist Kits for 2016 ($17.50 each) offer sheer nail polish with an opaque white base to let you play away all day with nail art. Who doesn’t love the look of watercolors, sheer and delicate, versatile and colorful? Essie translates the beauty watercolors art into these two fabulous new nail kits.
The warm kit has mini-sized bottles in sheer tones of yellow, pink and purple (muse myself, love sheen & no shrinking violet)
The cool kit has mini-sized bottles in cool tones of teal, berry and blue (pen & inky, highest bidder & point of blue)
Each kit has a full sized, white opaque base (white page)
The idea is to blend them together, either in waves and stripes, dots, dashes, or in your own mini-masterpieces. Of course, as with all the Essie nail polishes, these are DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free.
My first attempts at making something beautiful with these polishes didn’t turn out terribly well, but that’s not the fault of the polish, it’s the lack of talent on the part of the person testing it (that would be me, Alison Blackman). I tried several times but just don’t have the nail art knack. However, as plain nail polish, I did admirably! Creative types will “play all day” with these. Try a different base coat and get different effects. These would make a fun and affordable little mother’s day gift or shower favor. You can buy them at http://www.essie.com/
