Last night at the pop up shop at Dressbarn at 102 Fifth Avenue 15th & 16th Streets in Manhattan, I had the honor of meeting designer Carmen Marc Valvo in person, to celebrate the launch of his collection of dresses at DressBar. Carmen Marc Valvo is (no secret) one of my favorite designers, the one show that thrills me every Fashion Week for it’s elegance and sophistication.
I wasn’t sure until I got to the store just what dressbar was. I wondered if it might be a meeting place for date night, and in fact, there was a bar, a DJ, and plenty of cocktails. But that wasn’t the point of this event. DRESSBAR is dressbarn’s first designer collaboration (affordable fashions from fantastic designers, ladies) including designers Carmen Marc Valvo, Adrianna Papell and Heidi Weisel. Although it’s unlikely that I’ll ever wear one of Carmen’s gorgeous gowns that I see on the runways, at dressbar, I can wear a dress that he designed to flatter women who do want to look special for a occasion, or “just because.”
Here are some of my photos from the event, and a few of the uber-talented Carmen Marc Valvo’s contribution to the dressbar collection.
As you can see from the photograph, and from the illustrations below, the dresses that designer Carmen Marc Valvo has created for Dressbar are fun, flirty and while they are not his usual red carpet couture gowns, you’ll feel ultra-special in any one of them. And check out the easy to handle prices! I like the navy dress second from the right with the flowing skirt.
