Tadashi Shoji is one of those runway designers whose shows are just plain fun to watch, although I’m not betting that any time soon, the Advice Sisters lifestyle will include a chance to wear Tadashi’s elegant red carpet gowns, or even his cocktail dresses. However. celebrities like Selena Gomez, Kate Beckinsale and Octavia Spencer love Tadashi and seen strutting their stuff in Tadashi’s gorgeous designs, on the red carpet.
Fall and Winter 2013 are shaping up to be as dreary in color and somber in tone as the Wintry weather outside the Lincoln Center tents, but Tadashi Shoji’s show fit right in, inspired apparently, by brutal Russian winters of pre-revolutionary Russia with as Shoji himself described them: “A wintery, snowy feel.”
In keeping with the rather subdued colors for Fall and Winter 2013 seen on every runway, Shjoi’s models walked the runway in tones of burgundy, blue, blush and snowy white with plenty of traditional black and red.
From my vantage point on the photography riser, the collection was a perfect fit for a woman who likes drama, lots of elegant and detailed lace, two-toned glamour and evening wear with controlled volume. The lace gowns were the stand-outs here, and I’m sharing my favorite looks, and a video of the finale! Which is your favorite?
