Not long ago I had the privilege of checking out the SPRING 2011 fashions you’ll be seeing in stores, from February through April, 2010. While the holiday designs were already on display, here’s my general impression of Spring 2011, There will be even more shooties (half shoe, half boot) designs, and also lots of booties and some boots. There were plenty of sky-high platforms (most note-able, some by Christian Siriano in black patent that were so strappy and high that you might just display them as a work of art, as well as walk in them). But along with sky-high stilettos were more wearable platforms, wedges, and lots of chic, easy to walk in, flats. Those who love bling will love Spring 2011 from Payless: lots of “jewels” adorned handbags, shoes, and even sandals.
Christian Siriano’s stiletto shooties I just mentioned, but for the real life (not the runway or the club) he offers up realy cute flats (snakeskin is a theme) and a great evening clutch in black patent with a classic, Hermes style gold toggle clasp and a giant tote shaped like a fan. Isabel Toldedo’s Spring theme is black and red. She had a black kitten heels with a pop of red, as well as higher heels.
Although the collections will arrive at staggered times in Feburary and April, it is never too soon to stock up for summer, or bring something new to your beach vacation. Theres will be plenty of Payless’s colorful and sturdy flip flops and “partriotic” red, white and blue wedges. The eco friend line Zac and Zoe has lots of casual options, but also a high heeled sandal that is trendy with the twist that it’s made of organic cotton.
Sneakers are an urban person’s must have footgear, but whether you’re out in the country, or walking about in the town, there are lots of sneaker options including the Champion Stride $29.99 (and a few other toning-shoe styles ) that can help you tone your butt and legs while you walk. The price makes it super-uniquye–it’s just so much less than the competitors you can’t resist! The Stride, looks like a running shoe, fashioned of light, breathable mesh and a rubber out-sole for durability and traction, and it has air traverse cushioning — a patent pending technology that transfers air between the heel and fore-foot on impact for added comfort and support. but it also has two curved “pods” on the bottom that create instability, and hence, encourages muscle toning while you walk. On a “green” note, even the carton is made of 85% post consumer recycled paper, and is also 100% recyclable. The shoe is extremely comfortable and would make a good walking shoe regardless of the toning component. There is a toning/walking sneaker for guys, too. (Men and kids have plenty of trendy styles too). I haven’t sampled the Stride, but I hope to, before long.
Payless isn’t just selling shoes. There are specialty items: a really cute red and gold-ringed bracelet (for Black History month in February), a Friendship shoe that you can write on and personalize (and that also gives back to charity), and a new, eco-tote tote (design not finalized just yet) with 50% recycled PET that costs just $1.99 and Payless will contribute $1.00 to the Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees Campaign for each bag purchased *up to a maximum of $100,000. You can get this years attractive, yellow and grey tote online now at http://www.plantabillion.org/ or http://www.payless.com/
Payless considers their stores to be a one-stop shopping experience. To that end, they have affordable and trendy jewelry, hair ornaments, hats, scarves, hosiery, totes, handbags, and more. But now, they’ve also decided to introduce their own brand of cosmetics and fragrances. If you are buying a lipstick red stiletto, you can get a nail polish or a lipstick, to match. If your wedding party is wearing pink gowns and dyed-to-match shoes, you can get hair jewelry and even eye shadow to compliment your chosen shade. If you just want a little treat, you can get it, and you won’t go broke. Their fashion accessories are mostly $20.00 and many of the ones for Spring I saw were under $10.00. For Spring 2011 you will see: lacy scarves, wide buckled belts, cute little organizer wallets that turn into evening clutches, lots of chain necklaces, dangling pendants, statement earrings and rings.
….and another surprise are Payless brand cosmetics. I spied gorgeous palettes both from the eco-friendly Zac and Zoe line, and also from the regular Payless beauty collection. There is a totally new line of fragrance and makeup called “SXY” that will arrive around April 2011. I cannot tell you much about it nor can I show you a photo as it is embargoed for now. But I can tell you that I was instantly smitten with the scent. It’s a “date night” fragrance to my mind, with notes of juicy pineapple, sandalwood, amber and musk. It’s more substantial than the light “splash me all over” scents in the Payless fragrance line, but it’s not cloying or too, too heavy. The scent was created by a famous and upscale fragrance house (I can’t tell you which one, but it’s a great one). The SXY collection will also include makeup items. As soon as I can get samples and more information that I am allowed to share with my readers, I’ll rush to do so!
As tenpting as these Spring styles and accessories are, they won’t be in stores for a few months. Meanwhile, the GOOD news is that the Holiday 2010 collections are available. RUN to your Payless Store and check out the holiday goodies from designers like Christian Siriano, and Isabel Toledo. If you’re getting married around the holidays, you absolutely must get yourself and your bridal party shoes from the Lela Rose’s “Unforgettable Moments” evening shoes collection. These are dye-ables in a variety of sandals and pumps, including a few for children, that allow you to choose one of 64 different colors and order the style and color you want, online (as well as in the store). The shoes are lovely, but the new styles I saw for Spring 2011 have something I really like: soft fabrics where you toes are situated, so if you’re wearing those shoes for the first time and have to stand and dance in them for hours, your feet won’t be cut to ribbons by hard edges on peep toes and sandals. And it doesn’t take long to get the dyed-to-order shoes back, either. This is a real bonus for brides whose wedding party is scattered all around the country. The girls can simply check the style online, order it with the color the bride has chosen, and get it delivered. for a lot less than it would cost in the bridal shop. There are even age-appropriate styles for little girls, and teens.
The sheer amount of styles on display for Spring 2011 was nearly overwhelming, and had me exclaiming “I want that NOW” every place along the “shoe tour” we stopped. *there are also fabulous holiday styles to covet before the Spring collections, arrrive.
