First thing that I noticed on you was your rainboots, your rainboots.
My eyes went up and the next thing I saw was your rain coat, your rain coat.
Your umbrella, open wide, hair hanging down, cloudy sky.
Come on look at me, come on look at me, come on looky-looky-looky-look at me.
Plastic can really make a fashion statement, especially when the items we’re talking about are from the Brazilian brand, Melissa.
Melissa is known for their super chic shoes and sandals in plastic collaborating with some of the trendiest designers in the world, including Alexandre Herchovitch, Jason Wu, Vivienne Westwood and Jeremy Scott, etc. And just a few months ago we featured the Melissa Refraction Bag in our Fall Trends review. This bag has so many uses, and it’s so eye-catching! (read review)
Now I’ve discovered something so new and novel,I can’t wait for to tell you about it. It is these Melissa Thermal Flower Boot High ($235) . Where I’m writing, there isn’t any rain or snow (at the moment) but with these incredible boots on my feet, slogging through slush and getting through any wet weather is going to be a lot more fun, and easier too.
It’s not just any rain/snow boot, it’s just about the most astounding and luxurious rain boot I’ve ever seen.
The company may be based in Brazil, but these boots are made in Italy. And, for those who need to know, the plastic is 100% Recyclable PVC which is durable, flexible and even hypoallergenic.
It’s also the debut of Melissa’s first rain boot which is waterproof and thermal, so you can jump in the slush and snow and not end up with soggy feet. *I admit I haven’t been able to test the thermal properties yet because it’s just not cold enough. I’ll update.
The almost knee-high biker boot is inspired by biker boots, only with a 3D floral design on the top that looks astoundingly like it has matte, ceramic flowers on a trellis.
These are charming – and they look even more astounding in person. With a boot that is this unique, people will be staring at your “rain boots.” But while you’re making a fashion statement, you are also wearing practical luxury.
The Melissa Logo on the side shows you it’s a genuine Melissa product.
The thermal lining is silky and lets you slip your feet right into the boot. Since there isn’t a zipper, this is very welcome (If these were simply plastic within a smooth lining, they would be more difficult to get on and off ). The padded foot-bed makes these more comfortable for Winter walking, while the heavy lug sole and solid, low heel means you won’t slip.
The boots aren’t stretchy, so if you generally wear wide calf boots these may be a tight squeeze at the top. For the majority of women this isn’t going to be an issue.
Whether you wear these to walk to work or school, or you’re sporting them apres ski, you’re sure to make wet weather a whole lot more fun….and stylish!
