Orlov Paris Sea of Light: a Fragrance for Summer Delight!
At 182 carats, the Sea of Light (Dariya-i-noor) is one of the largest diamonds in the world.
The pale pink color also makes it one of the rarest type of diamonds. This amazing stone is not for sale, it’s in the Iranian Crown Jewels of Central Bank of Iran in Tehran. But the Sea of Light is also the inspiration for another rare and luxurious item, the Sea of Light fragrance by Orlov Paris.
There are many rare diamonds in the universe. For example, the ORLOV Diamond fragrance collection is truly luxurious, with some of the collection featuring actual diamonds (you can also purchase the fragrances without the diamond, but in equally fabulous presentations). Each of Orlov Paris scents is inspired by one a famous diamond with historical significance. The Advice Sisters wrote about these unique, luxurious fragrances last year (read our review).
Creators and owners Ruth & Thomas Méaulle work with celebrated “nose” perfumer Dominique Ropion who is known for literally dozens and dozens of other fabulous fragrances as well. While all of the Orlov Paris fragrances are unique and will appeal to different scent personalities, I just love the way this couple met…a real fragrance romance story: When she met the former banker Thomas Méaulle (the second part of the Orlov team), he was wearing Malle’s Vetiver Extraordinaire, also a scent Ropion designed. It was destiny! They’re not just founders and co-owners of Orlov, they’re also husband and wife (how romantic is this?!)
While all of the Orlov Paris fragrances are unique and will appeal to different scent personalities, I’m suggesting the Sea of Light fragrance specifically for this Summer. It’s a unisex fragrance featuring key notes of citrus notes and also peach and blackcurrant but with salty marine notes and musk. The scent is significant and it has staying power, but it won’t turn all sorts of crazy with heat, nor will it overpower you when you’re feeling light and fresh.
Another thing to note about Orlov Paris fragrance is that they look very luxurious befitting the cost. The packaging is exceptional. the packaging. As you can see from the photos above, the Orlov Paris fragrances are $330.00, with 100 ml. refills ($270.00) but there are two “Elixer” versions with fancier bottles and a train case presentation, and they also contain a genuine diamond, –but these cost $1,890. Although the presentation boxes are very luxurious and impressive, if your home is very hot, you might consider putting the presentation boxes aside for the Summer and keeping your fine fragrances, in a less glamorous but cooler place such as the refrigerator– as long as you don’t freeze them!
