A Review of the Foxy Bae Hair Straightener
By Alison Blackman
#Bae means”before anyone else” or (less delightfully) the Danish word for “poop” (yes, really), but when you add it to the word “Foxy” in the beauty world, we’re talking about Foxy Bae, a deliciously appealing heat styling tool that will make your hair straight and shiny.
Unless you’re born with it, getting your hair perfectly straight and shiny isn’t going to happen on it’s own. If you want straight hair, really straight hair, you need a heat styling tool to help you get the look.
When I received the Foxy Bae heat styling brush I thought it looked very pretty, but to wow me, a tool has to do more than just work, it has to perform really, really well.
Foxy Bae does. It will make your hair soft, shiny and straight, and nothing but straight.
This styler literally gets to the root of your frizzy, unruly, wavy hair and turns it into that dreamy swingy straight look you want. It’s Foxy Bae’s mission!
Ceramic Tourmaline & Negative Ions
The ceramic tourmaline heat styler is being touted as West coast cool and while it looks beautiful in matte black with rose gold accents, it’s a serious heat styler.
Tourmaline as you probably already know from reading a gazillion hair tool reviews on advicesisters.com produces negative ions that combine with infrared to add a smooth glide to the tool and more shine.
The negative ions seal the hair cuticle so the hair has a smoother finish but doesn’t lie dead and flat. But ceramic tourmaline also heats up more evenly from the inside out, so moisture is locked into your hair, reducing frizz. It also means you don’t have to make so many passes with the heat tool through your hair, so you reduce damage to your hair as well.
The tool heats up from 185 degrees to 365 degrees in about 45 seconds and will heat all the way up to 450 degrees.
There’s an automatic shutoff feature if you forget to turn it off after 60 minutes.
Even better, FoxyBae features dual voltage so you can take this with you when you travel to other countries. There is a velveteen drawstring travel bag included with the brush, but you have to wait until the tool cools off to use it. I would have preferred a heat protected sleeve because sometimes you just need to style, pack, and go.
Easy To Use & Love!
As heat styling brushes go, Foxy Bae is indeed, “foxy.” This is a pretty brush, and easy to use and easy to love.
The large LED window to show the temperature, and the power button and temperature controls are on the side. There is also a 360 degree swivel cord that is long and substantial, making the brush even easier to use.
The bristles are long enough to hold and grip thick hair. That’s a real plus, although I always use a brush first and follow down the hair shaft with the heat styling brush. brush.
Another nice thing the instant temperature set at 15 seconds or 365 in one minute for all hair types. 410 degrees F is suggested for natural texture hair, 450 degrees F for thick or wavy hair. You can customize your temperature for Synthetic, Fragile & Fine, Thin, Normal, Wavy, Coarse and Very Thick Hair using the Temperature Styling Chart in the instruction booklet.
You might not care, but you can convert the temperature from Fahrenheit to Centigrade simply by pressing the + and – temperature buttons at the same time.
Two Bitty Bummers:
The only bummers are small. The controls on the side are where I seem to naturally grip the handle for styling purposes. I kept pushing the temperature up or down as I gripped the handle. However, if you don’t set anything for 5 seconds the control button lock. Pressing the power button twice unlocks the temperature control buttons.
Another issue is that the brush is a bit weighty. You should only need one or two passes on each section so this might not be an issue, but I could see how this might get tiring with very long hair.
The Bottom Line:
Foxy Bae’s Hair Straightening Ceramic Tourmaline Brush brushes away frizz, kinks, curls and whatever else keeps your hair from staying straight and sleek and shiny. Some heat tools try too hard to do too much. Foxy Bae does one thing beautifully: get your hair sleek, shiny and perfectly straight from root to tip. It does it fast, safely and easily.
This West Coast Brand touts itself as empowering bad-ass women with the S.L.A.Y. Factor (uh, that would be; Style, Love, Attitude, and YAAAASSS). Maybe this is being slathered on a bit heavily, but I’ve got to say that when it comes to Foxy Bae, it’s definitely a YAAAS!”
The Foxy Bae Hair Straightener is available on the Foxy Bae website for $149 but there is a discount of $70 off at the time I wrote this. Check it out!
