These Are Not Ordinary Pet Bowls. These Pet Bowl Feeder Dishes Saved Our Relationship with Bob Marley
My husband and I have a Maine Coon cat named Nike. After her sister died, we adopted Bob Marley. He’s an adorable black and white male who was saved from a kill shelter. His eyes as soulful as his namesake’s songs, but he’s got “issues” after what must have been plenty of trauma. Bob Marley eats food like it’s the last meal he will ever have. He slobbers food all over, then refuses to eat anything that isn’t opened fresh in front of him. And, he drinks water like it’s a swimming pools, spilling it all over to the point it ruined our parquet floor. Let’s just say that as much as we love him, his “table manners” are atrocious! bowls saved our sanity: the SureFlap SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl, and the Neater Feeder.
My husband and I have two cats. Nike is a Maine Coon whose sister died, and she was sad, so we got her a brother. Bob Marley is an adorable black and white kitty we saved from a kill shelter. Help came in the form of two pet bowl feeder dishes: the SureFlap SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl, and the Neater Feeder.
The SureFlap SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl:
Does you cat eat smelly food? Do you find that bugs are attracted to it, or it dries out? Once a cat’s food is no longer fresh, most “finicky” cats and dogs would rather die of starvation than eat it leaving you to seethe in frustration as you toss it out.
Bob Marley eats only wet food and he’s partial to smelly fish formulas that stink up our apartment. He is also finicky, so if the food isn’t 100% fresh, he would rather die than eat it. The SureFlap SureFlap SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl (MSRP $69.99) has a motion sensor that automatically opens the bowl when Bob Marley gets close to it. When he walks away, it silently closes with an airtight seal that keeps food fresh until the next time he decides to approach the bowl.
Occasionally the top opens when I get too close to it, but these pet bowls are designed to open when something cat-sized comes by. Bob Marley, while not terribly smart, immediately understood how the bowl worked and likes it. So does his sister, Nike, who really isn’t supposed to eat his food, but she sneaks it now and then.
The big bonus for us is that whatever Bob Marley doesn’t eat stays fresh enough so our finicky feline will agree to eat it later, and we don’t have to smell it! You can use it for dry food as well, but if your cat likes smelly, wet fish formulas, these pet bowls are really helpful to keep the odor down.
The bowl operates on four C cell batteries that (depending upon how many times the bowl is opened and closed) can last up to six months. It also comes with one standard gray bowl, but ou can buy others in blue pink or green. Small dogs can use this bowl as well.
The Neater Feeder:
Bob Marley has also apparently never learned how a normal cat drinks water. He thinks water bowls are paddle pools! No matter what kind of bowl we used, he ‘d kick it over and spill all the water out onto the floor. He ruined our wood parquet and then proceeded the kitchen to flood the tile.
We couldn’t let him dehydrate and die, so we resorted to using a full sized plastic cat box which took up a big portion of our floor. Then if he spilled water out of the traditional pet bowls we put in there, he still had a bit of water in his own private “pool,” to drink.
But it took up half our kitchen and it was a mess to drain. Then we were sent the Neater Feeder! These pet bowls are designed with two bowls on a platform with another platform underneath it. Spilled food stays on the top but spilled water drains below into a reservoir where we could remove it.
One of the pet bowls is meant for food (spills from that stay on the top so you can remove them) and the other for water, but we use both bowls for water. Both Bob Marley and our other cat, Nike, actually love the Neater Feeder. Again, they had no difficulties figuring how how to use them. These come in different sizes for different pets (up to fairly large dogs).
Between the Neater Feeder and the SureFeed Sealed Pet Bowl Bob Marley is a happy rescue cat, and we are happy, too. If you have a cat or a dog, or anything that eats out of pet bowls feeder dishes on the floor, these are a wise investment.
