Great Gifts For Your Guys (but you’ll borrow them too)
By Advicesisters.com Staff
This collection of gift ideas is meant for the guys, but none of these products are really just for them (snicker, snicker). We love the Go Clean hair and body wash from Redken. We know we’ll be borrowing his luxeBadger Shave brush from Van Der Hagen. We’re not just jealous of his Billy Jealously gift sets, we’re checking them out too, along with the beautiful and aromatic Senteurs d’Orient Hammam Soap (if it is in the bathroom, is fair game, right?). We’ll wave to him wearing his Molton Crystal Tipsy Aztec Bracelet by Heet. Most of all we will raise a glass (a chilled one) thanks to Corkpops Stainless Steel Ice Cubes.
So: here’s to the men we like, love and adore. These gifts will show them we really think they’re the best!
Redken for Men: Grooming Essentials
Redken knows that men are just as interested in great hair as women, but some guys just won’t own up to it. For them, the perfect gift is a trio of hair grooming products made just for his needs, from Redken, that let him break free from using whatever is in the bathroom or worse, a bar or soap to clean his hair. Redken for Men: Grooming Essentials ($30) is the 2016 gift set of the season for men. This b0xed set with bright graphics features Redken’s Go Clean Daily Shampoo (10 oz) , a hydrating, lightweight shampoo with a casual scent that cleanses, conditions and moisturizes hair and scalp. It also removes build-up from dirt, sweat, and styling products, and helps keep hair stronger and more manageable. Also included to inspire him to style us the Maneuver Working Wax (3.4 oz). If he’s never tried this kind of product before, this is the one to try! It’s s fun and user-friendly for just about any style as it’s a medium hold, water-based formula that looks natural and shampoos out easily without leaving a residue in his hair. The final part of the trio isn’t for hair at all, it’s a skincare product: Cleanse Acid Balance Cleansing Bar to remind him to really clean his face, This bar soap gets rave reviews from men around the world. It restores the skins’ natural pH, is good for sensitive skin, and refreshes with allantoin (allantoin moisturizes and helps skin to heal more quickly so it is great for dry skin and chapped skin, and also to help razor burn). Van Der Hagen Shave Badger Shave Set
Even in the era of beard worship, most men still shave. Offering them an upscale experience that pampers their skin is a true gift. A few years ago advicesisters.com reviewed the Big Blue Shave Set ($80) from Van Der Hagen, a Dutch company whose shaving products really look impressive, but they’re impressively inexpensive. You can purchase the Van Der Hagen razors, brushes and soaps individually, but the boxed sets are so nicely presented for gifts, they’re perfect for all the men on your gift list. In fact, you save money when you buy the sets, too. This year we’re suggesting this fabulous Badger Shave Set from the Luxury Line with Soap, Brush, Stand and Mug ($40) which gives him everything he needs to for traditional shaving experience at less than $10 per item *the same set with a boar brush is even less at $30)! The ceramic mug has the Van Der Hagen logo on it as does the good quality badger brush. The acrylic stand is attractive and sturdy and goes with all decor. The soap is so kind to skin, ladies will want to steal these hypo-allergenic beauties (with over 10% Glycerin and emollient Shea, mango, and cocoa butters) for their legs. Ditto the badger brush, which feels so decadent against your skin. Shaving instructions for using a badger brush and soap are printed right on the box, but we also posted them HERE. You can find Van Der Hagen products and sets at drug and mass-market retailers nationwide and online. For more information visit the Van Der Hagen Web Site.
Molton Crystal Tipsy Aztec Bracelet
Is your guy a rock star to you (or one in real life, or aspiring to be)? The Molton Crystal Tipsy Aztec Bracelet by Heet ($250) is a bit of a splurge, but well worth it. HEET is contemporary jewelry line featuring bold pieces with studs, Swarovski crystal elements and different types and widths of leather, suede, and fabric. These are super luxurious, but they’re so unusual that they are “art.” Some of the pieces are seemingly gender-specific, with bold mostly metal pieces for men and thinner more sparkly designs for women. We chose the Molton Crystal Tipsy Aztec for our gift suggestion (we’re also including another version we saw at the Accessories Council holiday preview to show you the fab clasp) because these look great on him, but make a statement on her, too. We think your rock star will love this bracelet or any of the dozens of other styles on the Heet Jewelry Website. We know you’ll be borrowing this one!
Marked IV Life Tattoo Care Kit & Shave3Some
Tattoos are a permanent trend (no pun intended). In 2014 we featured Billy Jealousy’s Marked IV Life Tattoo Care Kit ($40) which helps protect and maintain your skin and tattoos. We loved the packaged set with its colorful graphics, and it’s still a great gift idea. But now it’s 2016 and we’re moving forward to another skin issue. The Shave3Some by Billy Jealousy ($30) offers up a nicely boxed set of three pampering shave products in a “shave system” featured in 3oz, airline-approved, flip top bottles. While the set is male-centric meant for his beard, women will also enjoy the Hot Towel Pre-Shave Treatment on their legs. It heats up on your skin, softening both skin and hair for a smoother, more comfortable shave (Hot Towel SHOULD NOT be used with an electric wet shaver). The Hydroplane Shave Cream gives your razor a better glide causing less distress to your skin, It’s a 3-in-1 Pre-Shave Oil, Shave Cream and Skin Conditioner that’s fragrance and colorant-free (this is not recommended for use with safety razor). Our favorite product was the Shaved Ice After-Shave Balm, a lovely way to end irritation as it cools, soothes and hydrates his skin (or hers if she gets to it first). Key ingredients are moisturizing Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, healing Allantoin, soothing oat Kernel Extract, and natural fruit oils. Get the set for him, but ask him to share when you’re “on the road” together. For more information visit http://www.billyjealousy.com/
Stainless Steel Ice Cubes
Some drinks need a splash of water, but getting a drink chilled, not watered down, can be an issue with traditional ice cubes. These Stainless Steel Ice cubes ($23/set of 4) that we found at CorkP0ps.com elevate the no-melt ice cube substitute to a much higher level. These four shiny silver cubes hang out in the freezer (or for at least 4 hours) until you need them. Add one to four cubes to your drink to chill it without diluting the precious whiskey or whatever, within. The smooth edges and food grade stainless steel won’t mar your glasses or taint the taste of your becverage. We even tried them with soda and wine...divine! Rinse and dry after use (or hold them in your hand as a stress-buster…that works, too)!
Senteurs d’Orient Hammam Soap
Soap on a rope is such a “guy thing, ” however the one we are suggesting is super luxe, and it’s not really just for men. We just think he’ll love the big size, the, deep chocolate color, interesting design, and spicy exotic scent of this very luxurious Senteurs d’Orient Hammam Soap ($38). The generously sized and nicely boxed 7.1 oz. solid milled bar soap hangs from a short, braided brown cord. Each pure vegetal soap is handcrafted by local artisans in Lebanon, air-dried for 10 days, and etched with an elegant filigree and infused with an aromatherapy scent, specially created by master perfumers in Grasse, France. There are five different scents but the one we selected in Amber is very spicy and masculine with rich musks and wood. The soap is also formulated with Shea Butter, Olive Oil and Vitamin E to moisturize and soothe his skin. You’ll borrow it, but he’ll want it back! You can get this at netaporter.com but for more information visit http://usa.senteursdorient.com/
Casio Vintage Collection Watch Collection
Casio has tons of watches for men and women (and unisex styles). The one that captured our imagination the most is the Vintage Collection which appeals to more mature men because they remember the originals, and younger men, because everything old is “new” again. The Casio Vintage Watch Style a168wg-9bvt-65 ($65) we are featuring is attractive, with a goldtone band and and digital readout with a diamond design faceplate. It has plenty of bells and whistles. It is water resistant, includes a 1/100th-second stopwatch (Elapsed time, split time, 1st-2nd place times), LED light,Daily alarm, Hourly time signal, Auto-calendar, 12/24-hour format, Regular timekeeping: Hour, minute, second, pm, date, day and it’s accuracy isn’t “old fashioned” at all: ±30 seconds per month. There are many different styles of “Casio Vintage” and we can’t show them all, but you can see them all and many more guys will love (women too) at http://www.casio.com/products/Watches/Classic/
