Wüsthof Collegiate GOURMET Steak Knives Cuts Like School Spirit!
Father’s Day is one of those gift-giving occasions when you literally have to dig deep to find something that a man is going to really like. Because let’s face it, most guys really don’t like ties, fishing lures, or sweaters, and they can get beer hats and “guy things” for themeslves. In fact, most guys would be happiest with a hunk of cheese, a chest of cold beer, and a day alone in front of a big screen TV watching sports. But if you want to give Dad something he can actually use all year round and that you and the rest of the family can enjoy as well, how about giving him his steak, and eat it? Like a really cool set of steak knives from Wusthof Gourmet.
Now, these are not just ANY steak knives. They have Soligen (Germany) blades and 3 rivet handles. But the thing that REALLY distinguishes these knives is that the knife block AND the blades have something additional on them: The logo of your dad’s college team (or his favorite college team). You can choose the Collegiate GOURMET 7-Piece Steak Knife Block Set (model 8305) with six knives and a compact light-colored wood storage block engraved with the team logo ($149.99 suggested retail); and the Collegiate GOURMET 4-Piece Steak Knife Set (model 9729), priced at $89.99 suggested retail.
School spirit on a steak knife –now that’s a cool gift! I’m reviewing the 7-piece knife block set with six knives and the knife block.
The Wüsthof Collegiate GOURMET Steak Knives has a knife block of genuine hard wood with the chosen College Logo engraved on the side of the block (the hardwood storage block keeps all the knives clean and accessible in 1″ slots). The college logo of choice is also emblazoned on every precision stamped, high carbon-stainless steel blade that sharpens easily and stays sharp . ABS polymer handles are resistant to high heat and high impact for the ultimate in durability and they have three rivets to keep them stable. You can put these in the dishwasher, but hand washing is better.
There are at the time I am writing this review, more than 40 different college team to choose from (I choose Syracuse for the set I tested because I went to SU), but even if your Dad didn’t go to one of the schools listed, or didn’t go to college at all, you can pick a school he likes to watch on TV, or just pick one YOU like (I picked the Razorbacks as another example here, because I like the logo).
These blades are so sharp you don’t need serrated edges on them. These are elegant and sleek, like the ones you might find in expensive steak houses. The knives glide like butter through even tough cuts of meat, and they have a Limited lifetime warranty.
While this is a great gift for Father’s Day coming up June 10th, I am posting this a bit early, because it’s a perfect gift for grads and for newlyweds, too. And of course, if you really want to treat yourself, or a fabulous weekend host or hostess, either collegiate set makes a great gift idea for them as well.
