A Review of a Bespoke Fragrance in a Luxury Skincare Line
By Alison Blackman
Paris Honore, or in English, simply Paris Honors, might not mean much to you. But it will, after you read this review and try this unique, organic skincare line with bespoke fragrancing (or unscented, if you prefer).
The company has just a few products, but they’re quite unusual and really quite luxurious. Although they have “Paris Honors” as the name, the products are blended in the United States. What caught my attention was a star products that is an all in one, a body & hand wash, face cleanser, pure hydrating shampoo and hydrating shave gel (yes, all for men as well) and blend them into a travel product called “Mimosa Travel” ($33.00/15 ml/ or $110.00 .00 100 ml) fragranced or not.
Paris Honore is Pure, Natural, and Cruelty-Free:
For anyone who absolutely must have “natural, pure” products, Paris Honore prides itself on skin care, face care, and haircare products that have an organic base that is antimicrobial, antifungal, and biodegradable, but (as their website states): “unlike other alcohol-based sanitising products, our Nettoyant line of organic skin sanitizers is water-based and alcohol-free, it is safe for children, it softens skin, and it provides a silky-smooth finish to your skin for several hours. Our cleansers, gels, and hair products use an organic plant-based ingredient that is based on a four-thousand-year-old formula. Additionally, it is just as important to take note of what harmful chemicals our products do not contain. Each and every product is alcohol-free, bleach-free, chlorine-free, formaldehyde-free, paraben-free, petrochemical-free, phosphate-free, sulfate-free, and triclosan-free. We do not test on animals.”
That pretty much says all you need to know about this topic.
Paris Honore Lets You Choose Fragrance Intensity As Well as the Fragrance:
I tried a few, mostly in sample sizes which normally, I wouldn’t do. But I really wanted to try these unique products. I requested a lavender scent, but received samples with Mimosa and some unscented products. What’s really great about the company is that you can get the fragrance in levels. The ones I received were lightly fragranced (enough to smell it but not enough to overwhelm your senses), but there are four levels you can choose from in the “bespoke” line: BESPOKE – Level 1 (Subtle); Lightly Fragranced (Standard); BESPOKE – Level 2 (Mysterious); BESPOKE – Level 3 (Powerful).
Although Paris Honore is all about the fragrances, even the unscented products were exceptionally luxurious.
The Face Cleanser I tried was blended with Champs De Lavande) would have been lovely even unscented, foaming nicely and leaving my skin absolutely clean but very soft. Massaging the product into my face with the lavender scent, however, was a spa-like experience which would make any day or evening ritual, just a bit better.
The unscented Face Creme ($118.00 30 ml.) was sent to me as a lab sample (normally I won’t review anything not in final packaging so I can definitively tell you about the delivery system). Alas, I can only say that from the photos, the packaging appears to be an oxygen-free pump jar. I really love these for ease of use, dosage, sanitary reasons, and so much more.
My test of the actual Face Creme was pleasant. The product has emollient oils and soothing aloe. It’s good for both day and evening use without being too heavy (good for most people with normal to dry skin) . The ingredients are listed as: Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Emulsifying Wax NF, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citric Acid.
Paris Honore Has Beautiful Packaging:
The Packaging is also beautiful. For the Face Cleanser, it is a brushed silver with a shiny top, and a small sliver of a window on the side so you can see how much is left in the otherwise opaque tube.
Paris Honore’s Unique, All in One Travel Product:
I also tried an all in one travel product in the Mimosa fragrance. I admit I was dubious about it as I couldn’t see how one product could really work as a shampoo and a shave gel, and a body and face cleanser all in one. Checking the ingredients I saw: proprietary extract of Saponin, Deionized Water (Aqua), Citric acid (natural preservative), Fragrance.
The Mimosa Travel lathered up a storm with just a little bit of product, and the lightly fragranced orange scent of champagne and mimosa hit my nostrils with an “oooh!.” Like the facial cleanser, the all in one did every task beautifully, leaving me wondering if this was the only product I really needed, after all because it really was so lovely. For travel, for couples, for a family, I can’t think of anything better.
You might wonder why you’d want separate products if you could just use the all in one product, but honestly, the individual products have more to commend them and do specific jobs. The travel product is great, but it’s not going to take the place of the others, it’s an additional product for when you really need to pack light.
Is Paris Honore Worth It? The Bottom Line:
I try a lot of skincare for The Advice Sisters, and this was one of the nicest I’ve tried in years. It’s not inexpensive, but the travel product is stellar, and it’s unisex, and organic with antimicrobial, antifungal, and biodegradable properties. I’m giving this one four stars.
