IXXI Cosmetics offers natural skincare with pine extract, from France
IXXI is an anti-aging skincare line which really makes full use of what’s around their landscape. They are part of DRT (Dérivés Résiniques et Terpéniques), located in the Landes region of southwestern France, at the heart of thousands of hectares of pine forests. Naturally, the company develops derivatives of pine from the Landes region: resins, terpenes and nutraceuticals. IXXI – is the family-owned company’s newest venture and of course, the star ingredient in all the IXXI products includes something from pine: a patented ingredient from natural sources, OPC PIN is the foundation of IXXI products. In speaking with the lovely and talented women who represent IXXI and who created the products, I learned that OPC PIN is extracted from the bark of the pine tree and it’s a powerful anti-aging ingredient rich in highly bioavailable polyphenols. So what’s great about this? The antioxidants are obviously powerful deterrrants to aging skin to help protect it, but it also helps restore tone and density and help keep skin more youthful through the more effective creation of collagen.
Ixxi is a “green” company:
For those who are concerned about the environment,it’s good to know that IXXI is committed to using only Landes pines from managed, renewed forests (renewable raw materials) and combines them with natural resources found in the Landes region (Heather, Maritime Pine extract, Everlasting flower extract). They also use green practices in their company including solar energy, PEFC/FSC cardboard packaging, elimination of excess packaging, use of double-sided printing, and their products are created with a maximum number of natural active ingre-dients. They do not contain parabens, phenoxyethanol, coloring agents, silicones, nanoparticles or mineral oils.
Ixxi is organized by age group and skincare concerns:
This is all good. So if you’re with me so far, it gets a bit complicated from here, because there are several different collections organized not just by skin care solutions, roughly by ages (20’s, 30’s 40’s+) . The products are nicely charted on the IXXI Web Site organized visually (the lines are also identified by color: Purple for sensitive, then in order, green, pink, and gold) in eight different collections, although not all of them may be in the United States, just yet (it’s just launching here). I’m listing them all ; Essenxiel; Inixial Perfection; Inixial; Elixir; Sublixime; Pearlixime; Fragrant water and Bodyxime. While I know this is going to make the page very large and scroll-heavy, I’m also listing visually the some of the products you’re most likely to see first on the shelves in boutique Duane Reade drugstore, because it’s otherwise confusing. Essenxiel items are basic products that are good for everyone. Inixiel are the products the youngest users are most likely to want, to protect skin against aging. Elixer are for people roughly in their 30’s who are seeing some signs of aging. Sublixime is for people 40+ who have issues with more mature skin. There is also Bodyxime featuring products everyone can use for bath and body.
The products are affordable by department store skincare prices, but a few of the products start to run $$, but then, after all they are natural products and they are unique and imported from France. I should mention that while these all have pine extract in them, but do not smell like pine. The Advice Sisters tried a few of the Ixxi products in most of the categories, and what we found is simple to use, easy to understand, honest skincare targeted to specific groups by age. That doesn’t mean you can’t cross over into another age group. For example, to call out just one product from the more mature line that everyone can use, the ixxi Sublixime Silky Cleansing Balm 4.2 fl. oz. is a great choice for women who want the silkiness of a balm so their skin doesn’t dry out, but the effectiveness of an oil cleanser to remove makeup. Massage it into dry skin and the gel transforms into oil and then a cream you can rinse off with water. It has 90% natural ingredients including sweet almond oil, coconut oil, and vegetable glycerine plus Pine bark OPCs and everlasting flower extract. Another plus is the twist open (but not off) cap that’s all in one. Love this!
