askalisonadvicesistersblog – MY NEW BLOG! from celebrated life & career expert Alison Blackman Dunham, who will continue to offer insight and advice about life, love and career, and how to make life easier, more successful & more fun.
Monday April 25th: Today I woke up with the Bangle’s song “Manic Monday” playing in my head although I really don’t know why I did this. I got up about an hour early, too. I began thinking about blogging and why I should do a blog. I’ve been resisting for about a year but now it seems that just about everyone has one. As a professional writer, I used to think that putting down “random thoughts” might be a waste of time and worse, I’d like to get paid for my time. But then I realized that even as an advice columnist, life & career expert, beauty and fashion reviewer, and online advice consultant, there is so much more than I can share with people who want to make their lives easier, more successful, and more satisfying. Although I have a popular web site, The Advice Sisters Great Relationships web site http://www.advicesisters.net/ a blog seemed like a more appropriate place to talk about issues that are growing increasingly important for me. These include: ageism empowerment of women eldercare senior dating appreciation of wines/travel/fashion dating over age 40 (yes, I’m happily married but I write about this increasingly confusing group of singles and they need help)! human rights love pets music weight loss/health relationship issues what is going on with advicesisters.net my advicesisters.net Ezine Enews (to subscribe go to the advicesisters.net/ home page http://www.advicesisters.net/) the internet and so much more I haven’t had time to think about with just one cup of coffee in my body so far this morning! One of the reasons I think this blog might be helpful is that I’m over 50 now and I am beginning to realize that despite the media’s attempt to woo only teens and 20-somethings, the baby boomer market (oh, how I hate the phrase “baby boomer”) is burgeoning. We are strong and powerful. We are not our mothers and fathers. We are dynamic and not ready to die anytime soon! We need to speak up, so that’s exactly what I’m doing. I would like to believe that my Advicesisters popularity would make me an able, acceptable spokeperson. We need many! I hope this blog will be a place you come and visit often and that it will be a blog you can relate to, love, hate, respond to….dialogue is what makes you powerful so don’t waste your opportunity to sound off on what I say here. Please comment. As a life & career expert, personal public relations consultant, and advicesisters columnist I have developed a very thick skin.
