Beautypress Spolight Day and the QVC Beauty Products Showcase Bring Beauty Brands by the Dozens!

I’m sure it wouldn’t surprise you to know that beauty editors go to a lot of launches, and increasingly, product showcases, where they can see a lot of interesting products in one place at one time. I attended two such beauty showcases in the past couple of weeks:  The Beautypress Spotlight Day, and the QVC Beauty Products Showcase.

At the BeautyPress Spotlight Day,  editors got a chance to meet personally with representatives of a small but well-edited selection of beauty brands. A few I already was familiar with, and a few, I wasn’t. For example, I discovered HairFree, a line of brushes that let you literally wipe the hair away that collects in the bristles, with the push of a button or the twist of a handle *I will be reviewing the brushes on March 31st.  Another new product line for me is Rice Force, a natural care care line from Japan with a key ingredient of rice powder extract, and EnvyDerm, another in a long line ofEyeliner-style eyelash nourishment serums (you need only use this once a day, however, making it easier and more cost-effective).

I got a chance to say hi to Theresa Spruil, creator of Honeycat Cosmetics. I met her a few years ago at the Accessories Show. She has the cutest packaging and product names, and the most sinfully delicious scents. Her latest includes “Twilight-themed”  a blood red body wash nestled into a red velvet-lined “coffin.” But most of her products are just beautifully packaged for a bit of girly fun for ladies of any age. Her “You’ve Got to be Kitten Me” Pomegranate and Cassis Shower Gel is to die for!  I also got a chance to revisit En Pointe (I reviewed En Pointe Adagio Gentle Cleanser in the Winter, 2009 What Works Beauty, Cosmetics & Fashion review column). This brand features cosmeceutical-grade skincare developed by a woman (and not just any woman–a female plastic surgeon). Stay tuned for a review of The line’s Piroutte Bamboo Microderm with bamboo and sugar. Since I recently reviewed Babor’s astoundingly great Face Design color cosmetics collection just a few weeks ago and am a bit maxed out on skincare after months of making that a focus, I am saving their latest and greatest for review a bit later this Spring,  but their HSR de luxe skincare line for anti-aging with Telovitin and essence of black pearl looks to be a true contender in the luxury skincare category.




I also attended the QVC Beauty Products launch, where editors got a chance to meet the experts and creators behind dozens of  the biggest beauty brands, to see what’s new for the lines, what’s launching (or will soon launch) exclusively at QVC.  I knew QVC had a lot of really great beauty offerings both on television and to purchase at QVC.com but I had no idea how many!  Smashbox! Tarte! Philosophy! Temptu! Kate Somerville!  Josie Maran, and so many more!  I didn’t realize that many of these amazing beauty brands have exclusives just for QVC.  It was very impressive.  I can’t even begin to name all of the beauty innovators that were at this event or you’ll be reading this post all day. However, there were a few that I just couldn’t resist snapping a photo, like an eager fan!
