At the Accessories Council Holiday Gift Preview, I did something I’ve never done before. I got a tattoo.
That’s pushing it a bit, but I did discover Black Lace Skin Jewelry. You might call them “Temporary Tattoos” but honestly, that would be doing them a disservice These stick on designs are really elegant, done in velvet, with glitter and crystal accents. I was told that Malan Breton used them on his models on the runway. Frankly, I’ve never considered getting a tattoo and I’ve never worn a temporary one, but at this event, when I was offered the opportunity to wear one on my hand, I agreed. Inspired by Medieval Times and Game of Thrones featuring Fleur de lis, royal crowns, romantic roses and hearts, a gothic cross, winged armor, crystal beaded snakes, thorns and feathers. the designs are really more “body jewelry” than traditional tattoo art. The collection comes in several ranges: Haute Couture Jewelry, Black Glitter, Matte Black, Bridal Glitter & Black Lace Metallic Tattoos. The pieces are made with glitters, Swarovski elements, silks and satins, and metallic gold and silver foil inks. All body jewels are handcrafted in the United States. They are Hypoallergenic, Self- Adhesive and Waterproof. I was told that they’d last a couple of days as along as I didn’t apply creams or lotions. Mine lasted about 1 /2 days and then started to peel off, so I removed it, but I see this as a way to make a statement at a party, particularly this New Years Eve.
I must have gotten at least a dozen comments in the first I wore my Black Lace Skin Jewelry design– a crown in gold and glitter with some crystals. It was amazing how many people stopped and made a comment about how amazing it looked. I thought it was such a fun idea and made such a statement, I would wear another one! Wear one before 2014 ends and you have no idea where 2015 will take you!
