Cindy began her career as a makeup artist in the 1970’s, developing and promoting a natural look. In 1999, at age 49, she was approached on the street by a casting agent to model for Dolce and Gabbana photographed by Steven Meisel. She now works with Ford models, and her face has been used in beauty campaigns for Garnier, Olay, Nivea, Elizabeth Arden and Aveda to name a few. She has modeled for fashion clients such as Macy’s, Sundance, Bloomingdales, Target, J.Jill, Shopbop, Ann Taylor, Liz Claiborne, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, J. Crew and the list goes on. Her face has graced covers and pages of Oprah , More, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Real Simple, Brigitta Woman, Marie Clair, Amica, Experience Life, European and Japanese fashion and beauty magazines.
Baby boomers, generally, don’t tend to like following “rules.” We wear white after labor day, and those of us over 40 are not looking just to be “sensible,” we want to be sensational! If we want to wear hair down to our waist like Demi More, we do. If we want to have fun with color and wear blue nail polish or golden glitter, we wear the products that delight us. But when it comes to makeup, there are specific colors, ingredient, and formulas that will make mature skin look best.
Which brings me back to BOOMSTICS. Cindy may have naturally gray hair and a few wrinkles, but she embodies the type of natural, easy glamour that women have coveted for generations (remember Revlon’s iconic Charlie Girl) and “unfussy” was supermodel Lauren Hutton’s signature too. She revolutionized that “natural” look for women over a certain age). Although there are plenty of pricey, anti-aging creams and potiions, there are still very few color makeup products made specifically for the needs of more mature skin. I don’t agree that all women have natural features that can be enhanced by a mere touch of color and a natural look at any age. But I do think that the older you get, it’s more about what products you you wear and where you place them, more than how many different colors you can slap on your face at one time.
Cindy Joseph’s latest and greatest don’t ask women to coat themselves in contouring and color. They are veyr simple. If you are a minimalist, BOOMSTICKS could be all you need for day to evening, and they’re perfect for travel. A woman of any generation would enjoy using them, but the color and intensity of shimmer are focused on flattering those modern, baby boomer consumers. All three BOOMSTICKS are $24.00 (reasonable, considering they’re multi-tasking) and are free of parabens and phthalates. If you are the type that wants to know everything that is in a product you are using, you will appreciate the list of ingredients for each of the three sticks, on the BOOM! By Cindy Joseph® web site.
The first BOOMSTICK I tried was the BOOMSTICK Color ($24.00). It is a deep but soft, rosed wine that apparently was a favorite lipstick color that she had translated to her liking. But even if you’re not a rosed wine fan, you’ll find that this sheer, moist, color stick looks believable and universally-flattering. It might look alarmingly dark in the silvery tube, but you will find that it works on lips and cheeks, and anywhere else you want to put it to add a healthy glow. The video below is great, as it shows Cindy applying BOOMSTICK Color. Watch her face go from blah, to glowing! It’s pretty amazing.
If BOOMSTICK Color was the only product, I’d still be very impressed, but there are two others: BOOMSTICK , and BOOMSTICK Glimmer.
BOOMSTICK Glimmer is a champagne-colored shimmer stick that gives your skin a glow, but not the type of harsh, 100-watt shine that is best left for club kids. It’s not quite as bronze-y as the photo, but more a of a sheer, flesh color. It is an understated, pearlescent shimmer that you can use on eyes, cheekbones, lips, décolleté and shoulders. As someone who loves shimmer, I find it a bit too understated for my taste as an eye shadow, but it makes a great highlighter and a nice body shimmer great for décolleté and shoulders.
Most women won’t leave the house without a least a hint of lipstick or lip gloss, or a bit of mascara, but there’s a world of difference between enhancing your beauty with a few products, and taking twenty minutes or more to do your makeup before you feel you can walk out in public! These products won’t mask anything, but they will help you enhance what you’ve got, naturally. If you are a woman who likes to travel light, who believes that “less is more,” who wants to look radiant, but hasn’t any time for a lot of makeup, or who simply doesn’t want to look “made up,” BOOMSTICkS are going to be your new “find” and constant companions. Each one speaks to a different need. This terrific trio of makeup treats can help you pare down your makeup and your makeup routine, and still let you enhance and protect your beauty.
