One that arrived on my desk just before Christmas, and that I truly love, is a limited edition, exclusive to ULTA kit called Box Office Hit, by LORAC. It is just $35.00, but it’s a huge, $210 value!!!
There are good makeup palettes, and then there are great makeup palettes. Box Office Hit is a blockbuster!
So what’s in this scrumptious makeup palette? The case is slim enough to be portable, and about the size of a luncheon napkin. It’s a deep cabernet-colored, moc-croc palette that is surprisingly lightweight. It folds out in two halves, and closes shut with a tab and silver snap,
Inside, there are a dozen eye shadows in chic, wearable colors that work for day and night are paired with two eyeliner pencils (one brown, one black) a clear pink sheer blush (universally flattering), and a shimmery copper bronzer that works as a blush or contour, too. The other side of the case has a large, rectangular mirror, and eight beautiful, opaque, intense,high-fashion lip colors (two pink, two nude, two red, two berry). They appear to be lined up by warm and cool tones, which is helpful. Another thing I like is that often, when you purchase a face-in-a-case-kit, the powder products dust the lipsticks with residue. n The Lorac Box Office Hit palette, a nice touch is the little, protective shield over the lip colors. It lifts up for access to the lipsticks, with a tiny ribbon.
LORAC is known for fashion-forward, high-performance makeup, and this palette gives you a lot of colors to work with. You can make a sexy, smoky eye with the deep grey, green, copper, gold or cabernet, but there are also trendy apricot and pink tones, and three highlight colors that also pinch-hit as light lid colors for daytime. The one thing this kit doesn’t have, is room for applicators. You are really much better off using good quality, full sized makeup brushes to apply your cosmetics, but sometimes, those little applicators that nestle into these kits are useful. For example, a few weeks ago I brought a favorite makeup palette on a cruise, and somehow forgot to bring my makeup brushes. At least I had the little applicators in the kit to “make do” until I could get back to shore, and buy a couple of brushes.
I just keep staring at this palette and wondering how LORAC brought this to ULTAfor such an incredible price! I wish I’d had it to recommend to you, earlier, but although it is a limited edition, it appears that it is still available on the ULTA web site. Kits this nice don’t last long and this one is not just beautiful, it is truly a steal! and you didn’t get one as a gift, go to ULTA.com, now! before the “Box Office Hit” is a sold out smash!
