These Makeup Brushes Give You The Right Tools for Every Task
By Alison Blackman
As a new year is dawning, one way to keep on track with your beauty routine is to make sure you right tools for every task.
Upgrade your beauty routine with a new Makeup brush set such as this BAR III – Essential 8 Piece Makeup Brush Set created just for MACYS.com.
It has 8 essentials to help you “get the look” or replace some of your worn-out brushes!
Before I forget to mention it, one of the nice things about this is it’s a great value and affordable, too!
At press time there was a Limited-Time Special Sale $29.50 ( Reg. $39.50). At either price, it is a steal!
Time to Upgrade?
Makeup brushes, well cared-for, can last for years, but they do wear out. If you are trying new trends, the makeup brush you need might not be among the ones you already have.
If your budget has been depleted by the holidays, consider: you’re getting a great value and a way to affordably invest in your beauty routine all year.
What’s in the box?
Powder Brush: for loose and pressed powder). This is the brush I use all the time, It gets dirty quickly and eventually, the bristles end up streaking the powder.
Blurring Brush: I never heard of this one before, but the soft wide head gives you an airbrushed effect with any type of cream, powder or mineral makeup. When I tried it with a pressed powder my makeup really did look much smoother. This is not just a keeper brush, it’s the one you may not have, but should!
Angled Blush Brush. A regular blush brush adds more of a “circular” look, but when you want to apply bronzer or blush in a believable swath, this is the one to use,
Foundation Brush (For the flawless foundation look, a brush is really essential. This one works with cream and liquid and it’s easy to clean.
Domed Contour Brush (it’s one of my favorite brushes for defining and targeting those spots you can’t reach well with a larger brush.
Orbit Brush: This type of brush with a soft, elongated head of bristles is the one you use for for adding color to eyelids in a smooth swipe. However, if you don’t have a lot of eyelid space the Orbit brush works as well or better.
Crease Brush: the bristles on this brush are also elongated, but the shape is domed at the tip, not flat, to add definition in the crease of your eye. You can also use it to blend out multiple eyeshadow colors.
Eyeliner/Brow Brush. The thin angled stiff faux bristles on this one are made for adding powder or cream to brows, but it’s also my absolutely favorite type of makeup brush for lining eyes with powder or cream. You can make a very precise line with cream, or soften the look with powder. It’s a must-have for all reasons.
And that’s not all!
As great a value as this 8-piece makeup brush set is, that’s not all you get.
You also get a really nice, gunmetal faux patent-leather snap-closure brush bag to keep your brushes clean and ready to travel if you want to take them with you.
The Bottom Line:
All of the bristles are nicely shaped. Since they’re faux fiber, they’re fine for everyone, including those who are sensitive to hair or just don’t want to buy products with animal hair.
The brushes carrying case satin lined and looks very luxe. For the price, it’s an amazing collection.
It’s also impressively presented in a big clear, cello box with hard-sided bottom. Great for those gifts you have to give next year for birthdays, Valentines Day, Mother’s Day, etc.
There are only two things that could make this even better. Information about the composition of the faux bristles because different materials give different results.
The brushes aren’t marked with their function on the matte, black handles. While most are shapes even neophytes can recognize, it would have been a nice touch.
BAR III is available online at MACYS.com I’d get a couple!
