Your Last “Why I Won’t use SPF” Sun Protection Excuse, Eliminated!
If I had my way as an online influencer, it would be to finally convince everyone who reads advicesisters.com features, that what you can’t see can hurt you! by that I mean the sun’s damaging rays. Even if you can’t see the damage UVA/UVA rays do to your skin and your body (you only feel the after-effects with a sunburn or sun poisoning), sun damage is happening every time you expose yourself to the sun. This can even occur through a window (e.g. when you’re driving in your car, or sitting by a window at home).
I’m not trying to scare anyone but who wants their skin to age more quickly, and even possibly cause skin cancers that could be fatal? A skin cancer the size of a dime can kill you!
Despite all the warnings, so many people just don’t listen, and they don’t wear a sunblock every day. I don’t always wear a real sunblock either (although I always wear some sort of SPF products on my face). Most of the men I know refuse to even consider a daily dose of SPF on their skin. Most women say that using a sun block is one more step and one more sticky, smelly layer they have to apply along with serums, moisturizers, BB/CC creams or foundation, blush, bronzer, etc.
So what can you do that’s easy, and won’t smell, feel sticky, or add layers more to your routine?
A practical if not totally good solution, is to apply some product or products that contain SPF on a daily basis, and wear a real sun block when you’re really going to be exposed to the sun a prolonged length of time. These days, so many face products do have SPF 30 or higher in them, there really isn’t much of an excuse not to at least use one of them.
That said, many doctors insist that products with SPF give you a false sense of security when it comes to real sun protection. I say it’s better than nothing, if you won’t add a sun block on top of everything else you’re putting on your face.
Which brings me to Brush on Block by Susan Posnick. I am in love with it! It’s a loose powder mineral sunscreen with SPF 30 that comes in a travel-friendly all in one container with brush top. It’s Brush on Block by Susan Posnick ($30.00).
Now that I’ve finally tried this product, I use it all the time and carry it with me for touch ups. It’s a must have and here’s why: The mineral powder has no scent, no tint, and leaves no trace of the product on your skin but it protects you, at least minimally, with no effort at all. It is also water and sweat resistant and hypo allergenic so it works for those with sensitive skin. The actives are Titanium Dioxide (15%) and Zinc Oxide (12%). Inactive Ingredients: Alumina, Boron Nitride, Chamomile Flower Extract, Green Tea Extract, Honeysuckle Flower Extract, Iron Oxides, Mica, Rice Lipids, Rice Starch, Safflower Oil, Silica, Stearic Acid, Triethoxycaprylsilane
You simply twist open the all in one container with brush top, flick your wrist to start the flow of the clear mineral powder into the brush, and apply it on your face, neck, hands and chest. Turn the container again to close it. You can even purchase a refill cartridge ($16.00) so the brush top is re-useable and it eco-friendly. Take the slim tube with you everywhere (put it in the closed position to lock it for travel) and add more as the day goes on. You have no reason why you can’t wear this one or carry it your pocket or purse. And it’s a real sunscreen that can help protect your skin as long as you use it. Apply it over your makeup without messing it up or just wear it on bare skin. Men and children will like it as well.
