Trendy Now: Cleansing Oils
Facial oils are just so trendy and we know if a product if from Kiehl’s it’s going to be good, so we’re excited about Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil. This product is ophthalmologist tested so even those with sensitive skin and eyes can use it. It gently dissolves dirt, oil, sunscreen, and makeup as well as prepare your skin for your night-time skincare products. “Oil” might be a turn-off for some, but this isn’t just “oil.” It is a bs cleanser in a pump bot — non-comedogenic and it won’t cause breakouts. It also helps to maintain the pH of your skin and keep your skin soft and moist. A “Midnight Recovery blend” of naturally derived ingredients (found in Kiehl’s serum) offers ingredients of squalane,1 evening primrose oil, 2 and aromatic lavender essential oil. Squalane is a signature Kiehl’s ingredient, a botanical lipid derived from olives with a similar molecular structure to your skin’s own natural oils. To use this product just use 2-4 pumps massaged into your dry skin (including your eye area) and add some water to emulsify the oil into a cleansing milk. Then rinse and pat try. If you wear hard-to-remove makeup, press the product on a cotton pad and over that makeup for 10 seconds, then wipe and rinse. Kiehl’s products are available at www.Kiehls.com, by mail order at 1-800-KIEHLS-2 as well as through select specialty retailers worldwide.
Steal This From The Guys
At a recent Nivea editor’s preview, we looked at some of the Nivea products for men and thought they were great. But now we’re raiding our guy’s medicine chest because one of these products is getting quite a cult following from the ladies. It’s the Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm (approx $6.50) that a lot of women are using as a makeup primer. This rich balm is formulated with moisturizers, vitamins, and chamomile extracts (and no alcohol) that combine to soothe and calm skin that has become irritated during shaving. There’s no reason why it wouldn’t work on a woman’s sensitive skin too, not just to soothe irritations instantly, but also improve skin’s defense over time. But it’s the high concentration of glycerin in the product that gives skin a tacky finish which makeup can grip on to. We tried it and found that it really did work well, as long as you don’t mind the somewhat “manly” scent (it’s light and disappears quickly). You can find Nivea in Mass Market retailers and drugstores nationwide or visit http://www.niveausa.com/
“Belif” In This New Cleanser from Korea
Care for Your Skin With CeraVe
As excited as we were about new products from CeraVe we discovered in November, they were embargoed. Now we can share the news! The CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream and Skin Renewing Gel Oil are both part of the Skin Renewing [roduct line, which Renewing Cream Serum and Renewing Night Cream.
The Skin Renewing Gel Oil is touted as the first to contain Ceraplex®– The line’s 5-ceramide mix (2,3,6-11 and w-acyl 1 and 1A) combined with sunflower oil. Why would this be important? According to NYC Dermatologist Marnie Nussbaum, MD who helped introduce the new products at our event, this combo helps to restore the skin barrier without clogging pores. Dry oils are trendy, but part of the reason is how well they blend into the skin and add radiance and reduce the irritation, look and feel of dry skin. The key to success is to use just a little bit. Fortunately, the oxygen-free pumps CeraVe uses dispense the just the right amount.
We are even more excited about the new CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream that not only has an acceptable amount of SPF for daily use at SPF 30, but contains something that we never thought we’d see in a sunscreen/moisturizing product –encapsulated retinol. And this isn’t just standard retinol. It is stabilized so it will slowly release over the course of the day. The combination of SPF and encapsulated retinol not only makes it possible for those with sensitive skin to use it, but wearing this Moisturizing Day Cream during the day will also give you SPF protection, and is non-irritating.It’s kind of a magical miracle. Once you try it you’ll be hooked. At just $24.99 for a 1.7 oz. pump bottle, it’s an amazing product at an amazing price. You can now get this at mass market retailers and drugstores, but for more information, we suggest visiting the CeraVe Website http://www.cerave.com
Brand new and so welcome for tired eyes from the spa-centric VIE Collection is Vie Chrono Eyes ($88.00 0.5 fl. oz.) that helps with dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles and it hydrates too). Inspired by treatments done by Estheticians in Doctor’s Offices, this cream features encapsulated high molecular weight hyaluronic acid that swells on contact with water in the dermis to add volume to hollow areas and fill deep wrinkles. Other powerful key ingredients include a Botox-like peptide that helps to relax muscles, frown lines, and crow’s feet; Phytosterols + Fatty acids to stimulate the elimination of fat deposits that cause under-eye puffiness; and ulta-stable Vitamin C + Vitamin B3 for protection and radiance. We love the oxygen-free pump and the slightly pearly finish that helps deflect imperfections, too. There is a lot of science and technology in this products.
