The snow is swirling around quite heavily outside (when will it ever end)? I went back to my desk for a few hours to edit videos.
The weather has really put a crimp in everyone’s outfits. I’ve been wearing furry, Stuart Weitzman snow boots all week. They’re warm and don’t have heels, so I can stand all day and not have cold feet. If you see a woman at the tents with a neon green ski jacket, it’s probably, me. I haven’t seen another one–I’d guess I’m the only one with the nerve to put comfort before fashion. Mine, from LL Bean is old, and I can wad it up and sit on it, and I don’t care if it gets frumpy because I’ll be throwing it in the washing machine in a few days! When you’re not breezing in…and breezing out….as some of the celebrities and stylists do, you can’t afford to be trucking a fur coat around in 4″ heels. You can always tell who is really working fashion week, by what they wear.
Maybelline cosmetics is an official sponsor of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Their lounge at the back of the main tent is a respite for weary editors and fashionistas. Every day, lovely hostesses hold trays offering the cosmetic du jour for sampling. Today it was lip gloss. The raspberry sorbet colored lip gloss not only look good and feels luxe on lips, it keeps them moist and smooth, too!
I also went to a preview of Fall 2010 fashions for Sears and KMart. If you shop there you are already really familiar with their clothes, but I learned a lot in the short time I perused these collections. For example, I liked these “working woman” fashion from Jaclyn Smith for Kmart. They are affordable, attractive, and ready to help you move up the career ladder without going broke! And: can you believe it? This coat is under $100!
