The four products I’m showcasing on The Advice Sisters today are special. They’re from Clarins, Wei Beauty, and Fleur’s. They’re new and luxurious, and; thanks to new technologies developed in skincare, they’re also targeted specifically to different things your face needs to look fabulous. These may bit a bit of a splurge for some, but for others they are likely to be the next “must-haves.” Which of these are you going to add to your Spring 2015 beauty shopping list?!
TWO NEWBIES FROM CLARINS THAT ARE JUST SO NICE!
Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate ($83.00 0.5 fl. oz.) by Clarins might be your eye area’s next new dream product. Yes, it’s really “super” especially if you want to soothe, pamper and protect this special skin on your face where there aren’t any oil glands to help out. Clarins is promoting this to “mature women” but to my feeling is that “mature” simply means whatever person has certain skin issue that s/he wants to target around the entire eye zone (temple to temple). If you have slackening skin, under-eye puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles or you have skin issues due to hormonal changes (Clarins says linked to the aging process but you might have these for other reasons, e.g. thyroid or other surgery as well).
Interestingly although the product didn’t personally bother my sensitive skin and eyes at all, some of those who have left reviews in various places did report some irritation. When I hear this, I can only say that it’s highly subjective. If you have very sensitive skin, try to get a sample first (go to a Clarins makeup counter and try some). The product does what a luxurious eye cream is supposed to do: de-puff, smooth, soothe and help hydrate beautifully without stickiness, greasiness, unpleasant odor, or residue. It’s lightweight and comforting and feels amazing. Clarins claims that 94% of women over age 50 were delighted after 7 days with the results. You will definitely see a difference in how that eye area looks and feels just about immediately thanks to silk tree extract that helps protect microcirculation and prevent dark circles; harungana leaf extract from Madagascar that is both antibacterial and used for healing properties ranging from headaches to soothing skin; and classie flower wax that gives your skin an instant smoothing sensation!

I’ll be the first to admit that I am lazy about applying sun screen unless I know I’m going to be out in the sun for a prolonged period of time. Normally, I do the “lazy” thing and simply wear moisturizers and other face products with SPF 30+. But the new formula in Clarin’s UV Anti-Pollution Broad Spectrum SPF 50 ($42.00) 1.7 fl. oz) that just launched in March 2015 may change all that. This non-tinted broad spectrum sunscreen has a whopping SPF 50 and it’s so pleasant to use, I can make a case for it every day without moaning and groaning that it smells bad, feels bad, or ruins my makeup. The thing that makes this product a new top hit on my list of beauty musts, is that the oil-free formula has a texture that is light as air, with a very light floral scent, and the minute you apply it the product simply disappears onto your skin leaving literally no residue. It’s the “tacky” feel of sunscreens that generally put people off, but you can apply this one and immediately apply any other products you want over it. The small, white plastic bottle makes it ideal for a travel bag, too.
This fabulous sunscreen is also good for all skin types. FYI: the actives are a mix of mineral and chemical sun screens: 10.9% Titanium Dioxide, 1.5% Oxybenzone, 4% Oxtocrylene and 4% Homosalate. As to the beauty benefits, key ingredients include something new: Organic Sanicle Extract harvested from the Alps (traditionally used for everything from morning sickness to skin issues), which helps fight aging and helps preserve radiance; and cantaloupe melon extract (an anti-oxidant). The sunscreen also features Clarins’ exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex that not only protects your skin from the sun’s damaging UVA/UVB rays, but environmental stressors and free radical damage faturing Lampsana Extract (protects against free radicals and has anti-inflammatory benefits) plus white tea extract (neutralizes free radicals).
If I’d had a sunscreen like this in my twenties, I’d have used it. No matter what our age, it’s never too early to start using a fabulous product like this one (not a luxury, a must-have) and never too late to protect that precious skin in whatever condition it is already in (and not make it worse).

This lovely Chinese Rose Foaming Cleanser ($32.00 5.3 fl. oz) by WEI promotes “Purify-Chi” (cleanses the skin and purifies toxins to clear the way for open energy flow in your skin’s micro-channels).
In case you didn’t know anything about the beauty benefits of this rose, this beautiful flower’s different pieces are used for many different things. Rose extract has a moisturizing, firming and soothing effect especially good for dry and mature skin, while rosehip oil helps to reduce the appearance of scars, burns and other skin blemishes. I think even the stems are used for health benefits! Clearly, the rose isn’t just a beautiful face, it can make your face, beautiful!
The Chinese Rose Foaming Cleanser is also a toner. When I dabbed a bit onto my hand and added water, it lathered nicely, and then dissolved just about every kind of really stubborn makeup I could throw at it, including very long lasting lip glosses (some products require energetic massage or a facial brush). For most dirt, oil, and makeup, the foam cleanses without a struggle to leave your skin soft, bright and feeling as good as if you got a facial.
Although Chinese rose extract is the star in this creamy cleanser, there is also natural Vitamin C (from Mandarin orange) which supposedly helps to brighten skin, while mild cleaners remove dirt and makeup. The cleanser is allergy and dermatologist tested, so those with sensitive skin can Purify-chi their skin too. You don’t need a lot of cleanser to do the job well. The only negative is the screw cap…a flip top cap or tube would have made this luxe cleanser just a WEI bit more user friendly. For more information visit the Wei Beauty Web Site.
FLEUR’S PUTS YOUR NECK IN PRECIOUS PEP-TIDES OF GOLD:
Precious minerals in beauty products are nothing new, but the idea of something precious and pricey in skincare in definitely “on trend.” Fleur’s Youth Perfector Fluid Gold Peptide Complex ($86.50 for 1 fl. oz.) arrives in an attractive, white and gold cardboard outer box. Inside, there’s a slim, frosted glass bottle with pump top. Gold you see, is supposed to help detoxify, firm, revitalize and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I wondered what it would do for me.
The Youth Perfector Fluid Gold Peptide complex has a lot of things in it that definitely should work to improve all of these issues, and also improve elasticity and even out the complexion. What caught my attention is that this is not just for use on the face, but also treats the neck area.
Star ingredients in the serum (along with the gold peptides) include Amphire Oil which redensifies the epidermis, slows keratinization (increases the lifetime of the cells), and smooths the surface of the skin; sea lilly which reduces the intensity and number of dark spots (very visible on neck area and hard to treat)l and natural sugar to hydrate, help with cell renewal, and exfoliate dead cells. The Raw Lifiting Floral Bouquet has 4 florals in it: Edelweiss Stem Cells (an antioxidant); Inula Extract (antioxidant, helps with elasticity and suppleness); Spilanthes Acmella Buds ( to lift, firm and plump); and Passionflower Oil (moisturizes, softens and helps with elasticity).
It has a powerhouse of exotic ingredients but you won’t appreciate it until you see results because you won’t notice it on your skin! it has a light texture and a finish that isn’t obnoxious so you can add it to your beauty routine and forget about it. As I am fond of repeatedly saying, if a product is pleasant to use, you are more likely to continue to use it and use it properly instead of buying it and then abandoning it on your shelf when there’s something about it you dislike. Fleurs suggests that the “delicate fragrance” is that of “floral freshness and notes of rose and raspberry.” I hardly noticed anything, maybe a hint of flowers…..and that’s the way I liked it!
