|Giorgio Armani Lasting Silk UV Compact Foundation|
Giorgio Armani is quite an accomplished and interesting man. He formed his company, Armani, in 1975, and by 2001, he had built an impressive empire. Mr. Armani is known for his clean, tailored clothes (especially for men) but he does beautiful things for women, too. He has been acclaimed as the most successful Italian designer ever. He has been quoted as saying: “There is no elegance without comfort and well being.” Perhaps that’s why his innovative, Lasting Silk UV Compact Foundation SPF 34 is such a winner in the “face race” for skin that looks flawless, but is also protected from the sun’s damaging rays.
This new solid foundation in a two-tiered, mirrored compact, has the mattifying effect of a powder, with a natural luminousity, but it also provides lightweight coverage. When the weather is hot, or if you’re on the go, this particular foundation makes life easier and is an effective, luxurious way to wear foundation. The powder arrives in eight shades, applied with the foam applicator that fits neatly into the bottom part of the compact. If you rub your finger over the top of the powder, you’ll see that it feels super silky. That same, silky, velvety finish glides onto your face, color minor perfections, and protects it all day long with enough SPF to keep you safe from the sun while you’re doing your daily activities. The formula is light and natural. Some powder foundation are so dense, they cover up your skin in a heavy, Kabuki style makeup. But this new, Armani Lasting Silk UV Compact Foundation looks natural, simply perfecting your complexion so it looks much “better than bare.”
For my readers who just have to know: the powder foundation is a combo of “highly-selected spherical and bouncy powders and small particle talc that work to create a soft, supple and gliding transparent texture that allows for a smooth and even application which blends well into the skin with an even natural finish. ” And as to the texture, this product has: “Micro-fil™ mattifying powders composed of lipophobic and hydrophobic powders (that) increase the resistance of the make up over time. The specific powders have been added to absorb the sebum and eliminate the risk of foundation color change during wear.” As with Armani’s Lasting Silk UV Fluid Foundation, this solid version in a compact contains soft focus fine micronized optical effect particles that diffuse light to smooth and illuminate the skin’s surface.
Why this is a splurge, but also, a steal: This is definitely a luxurious product, but will you invest in it? One benefit that makes it a good choice is that while most SPF products do seem to be rated in round numbers, another interesting aspect of the foundation is that it is rated SPF 34. But the point isn’t that it is a slightly higher SPF, but that it will provide adequate UV protection to help keep your skin from sun damage. And it will help your skin look good, with really nicely wearing color that will stay true, and stay put even if you’re perspiring. There is also the intrinsic pleasure –that WOW! factor, of being able to use something just a little bit decadent,. You’ll get constant pleasure out of using this lovely product in its’ now-iconic, round, matte black, mirrored compact with the Armani logo subtly done in shiny black on the top.
TIP: Use this product dry to add a sheer, natural veil of subtle color, or wet the sponge applicator, stroke it twice across the top of the powder, and apply it with the moist sponge for more coverage.
The Lasting Silk UV Compact Foundation has a suggested retail price of $59 and is available now online at http://www.giorgioarmanibeauty.com/ and at select fine department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Barneys.
