When I was a little girl, just out of anklets and knee socks, my mother made my sister and I wear tights. They were in a word: “gross!” These tights were not the stretchy, soft, comfortable legwear of today. The tights we wore were always black, always heavy and not stretchy (so we had to constantly pull them up when no one was looking). They pilled easily in the wash. I amused myself when I was bored by picking those “burs” off them. I guess they came in sizes, but they always sagged.
The legwear that Hanes calls “tights” are nothing like the ones I wore a long time ago. Hanes tights are available in a variety of sizes so you can really get a pair that fits and is comfortable. Hanes tights come in different styles. There is even a reversible pair that can be worn in black, or grey. One pair I checked out can be worn as a leggin, or a full tight, and is designed to adjust to your body temperature. Some are control top, some aren’t. And these Hanes tights come in a rainbow of colors and beautiful designs. Some are budget minded (you can get two regular tights with solids or patterns for just $20.00) or for $15.00 AND $18.00 respectively, get those reversible tights or the convertible tights.
Last holiday season I included Hanes legwear in my luxury leg story with the saying: “If your feet and legs are cold, your socks or stocking are falling down, or you are uncomfortable in your clothing, nothing will make you happy. It’s not really an old saying (I made it up), but I know that it’s true!”
Unlike the “old days” I now love tights for so many reasons. Hanes is known for legwear and they sent me some of their styles to try. I’m having a major love-fest trying on Hanes tights but so are fashion designers. For example, Hanes collaborated with fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra on his Spring/Summer 2015 runway show in NYC just a short while ago. For Fall 2015 and Spring 2015 so many models were wearing tights on the runway (in basic black to wild colors, prints and even fishnets) that I can’t even begin to mention them all. A lot of the looks were unusual, prints and textures worn with cocktails dresses, tights with anklets, knee socks, and leg warmers (a”Flash Dance” throwback if you remember that movie).
My point is: tights can totally change the look and attitude of what you’re wearing. Mix and match colors and prints with your clothes, or pair them with the same color shoes or boots for a totally different look. Try wearing them with a dress that is just a bit too short to make that dress more wearable. They’re the fashion accessory that is easy and fun, and they can make your legs look better, too. Bare legs are fine in the Summer, but now that the weather is chilly, tights are just right! There’s are sizes and styles that will wow you!
