We’ve selected some modern essentials that make this task easier and successful. Once you start using these, you might actually find yourself looking for reasons to clean and organize more often!
Out with the old, in with the new!
Clean Up/Freshen Up!
Warmer weather is the time to change up your fragrance to lighter, brighter scents. Why not do the same for your home?
By the end of Winter countertops, shelves, closets, even the bath and body products languishing in your bathroom can really feel “stale.”
It’s easy to clean up and bring some freshness back simply be replacing the half-used products with the Limited Edition “Ocean Waves” collection from Method. It’s inspired by wellness drinks, tea culture, artisanal ceramics + minimalist décor.
The soft floral scent looks like Springtime in aqua blue with darker turquoise accents. But the real reason to choose Method product is that they are so gentle, green and natural (read more on the Method web site).
We tried the naturally derived (an ingredient made from renewable plant-based materials, abundant minerals and/or water,) Ocean Waves Hand Wash (12 fl. oz.) in a waterdrop-shaped plastic pump bottle (there’s also a foaming hand wash version). and a fabulous
We also tried the Ocean Waves scented non-toxic, plant-based Cleanser (28 fl. oz/) that cleaned our grimy countertops easily (good for any non-porous surface). All that was left behind was a light, pleasing scent so much better than cleansers that smell like chemicals!
If Ocean Waves aren’t your thing chamomile lavender (soothing + airy), white rose (soft + flowery) and ginger tea (clean + uplifting) scents.
One other product we now can’t live without to keep smells off our hands is the Method Kitchen Gel handwash which arrives in a clear plastic 12 fl. oz. pump bottle with a big plastic pump top and has really nice fragrances like lemongrass and clementine.
It has a pleasing aromatherapy effect but more importantly, these remove smells and food odors like fish or onions from your hands. We tested them and we thought they were amazing.

You’ve Got the Power!
The MyCharge Power Extend ($24.99) is a tabletop charging hub about the size of a hockey puck that can charge 3 devices with a 4-amp output for really fast charging. anything from IOS or android.
It’s a great way to keep your most-used USBs in one place (cords are not included) and your desk more organized.
The unit plugs into a traditional wall socket. We’re carrying this lightweight hub with us when we travel because there are never enough plugs in hotel rooms for everything we want to charge!
CEDAR you NEVER, Moths!
Who let the moths out/in? Not you, because you took the time to add cedar scent to your closets and drawers where moths like to lay their eggs.
It’s simple to keep moths away if you act quickly. Instead of caustic, smelly mothballs for example. add some Cedar Fresh Cedar Balls andCedar Fresh Hangar Rings to your closet.
These are 100% Eastern red cedarwood naturally self-renewing/non-endangered. The rings slip easily over hangars, the round balls fit into drawers and storage bag or shoe boxes.
You can also put the cedar balls into a container and place them on the ground in an armoire or in a room, and just let the refreshing aromatic scent of cedar wood freshen the air.
The fresh cut cedar wood will last 6-12 months. Then simply replenish the moth-repelling scent with Cedar oil such as the one by Giles and Kendall which comes in a generous 8 oz, tin.
If cedar scent isn’t to your liking, try the lavender scented Cedar Spray made by Cedar Fresh with real cedar essence and over 350 sprays in the bottle. You mostly smell the aroma of lavender, not cedar, but the moths will.

You Can See Clearly Now:
You can’t organize, let alone find anything in a closet, on a shelf, or in a deep drawer if you can’t see in those dark spaces. Max Warehouse sent us a couple of easy to install lighting options that really make a huge difference in how you see what you have.
Small LED lights are true godsends in small or dark spaces. For example, the Light It! Drawer Lights by Fulcrum Products ($7.57) come in packages of two, bullet shaped, push-button LED lights.
The lights run on two replaceable CR2032 button batteries (just slide the case open) and they stick wherever you want them with adhesive tape.
They’re just about the size of a thumb, but they let can really help you look into the deep recesses of a drawer, shelf or a cabinet without dragging out a flashlight every time. Once you try them, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them!
You can also use these for emergency lighting if there is a power outage — just slide the little light off the base and take it with you to light your way.
Rite Lite Led Light Under The Cabinet Led 6 Aaa ($22.11) has four separate and adjustable light heads with 1 LED each to shine a light on different areas of your home. The price is a bargain, the unit is indispensable to shed 7o mumen 3,000K light with a 120 Beam Angle on whatever area is just too dark!
We used ours to turn a tall mirrored door into a (finally) use-able dressing area.

You’d Better Put A Label On It!
Once you’ve organized your things, you need to label them. You can do this the hard way with sticky labels and messy pens, or do it the easy way.
The easy way is with a new Brother P-Touch PT-D210 Label Maker.
This is not your mom’s old fashioned label maker. The new P-touch is lightweight, portable and powered by 6AA batteries (you can even take it camping) * Optional AC power adapter.
Then try your hand at labels with 14 fonts, 10 styles, 97 frames, and more than 600 symbols and 27 templates (pre-designed labels)!
It’s fun to try the various personalized fonts, borders, symbols and a variety of tape colors and designs, but you’re also being productive! Khloe Kardashian, for example, is a huge fan of organizing her jewelry in little bags with labels on them.
We used ours to label the boxes and bags holding our Winter clothes and accessories but labels are useful everywhere in your home and in your life. You can even use these in the freezer to identify that “mystery meat” and how long it’s been languishing. The labels are dishwasher and microwave-safe. There are even iron-on labels for the kids’ camp clothes.
Setup was easy and it took just minutes to learn how to use the label maker, but using all of the capabilities of the unit will probably be on an “as-needed” basis.
To help you there are one-touch keys for fast formatting (to add fonts, frames, and symbols) and if you’re not sure you did it right, there is a preview function for text and layout before printing. Store up to 30 labels you use often for quick reprinting.
