Jane Iredale’s Summer Makeup Collection Favorites

Mary Kay’s TimeWise Age-Fighting Lip Primer ($24) is a clear swivel up stick that primes lips by filling in those little lines and wrinkles around the lip area so lipstick doesn’t feather and bleed into them. It also helps keep your lipstick lasting longer in general.
It’s also moisturizing and nurturing to lips thanks to Sunflower Seed Oil and protective antioxidants. bit pricey, but you don’t need much, just a thin coat (let it dry for a minute before adding lipstick). If bleeding,
If $24 seems like a lot of a little stick of clear gel, Consider: you need just a thin coat (let it dry for a minute before adding lipstick). And, if bleeding, feathering, and lipstick that seems to slide off the moment you apply it is an issue for you, this product is a must-have miracle!
Jane Iredale’s Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener With Natural Brightening Ingredients ($48) is available in a regular and oily skin version. We tried the one for normal skin.
The hydrating primer helps your makeup go on more smoothly and last longer as you’d expect, but it also has anti-aging bennies and helps to smooth, brighten and nourish skin while minimizing the look of wrinkles and pores.
Key ingredients include Grapefruit Extract (to help promote luminosity and radiance); Apple Extract (antioxidant); and Green and White Tea Leaf Extracts (anti-aging, soothing, calming).
The hydrating easily absorbed primer has a slight citrus scent which is uplifting, too. What’s not to love?!!
We really do test products before we write about them, so we put the Lip Primer to the test with a bold red lipstick: Jane Ireldale’s PureMoist Lipstick ($25) in “Margi.”
The bold red lipstick is just one of 25 shades from light to deep (Margi being one of the deepest).
We loved the luxurious, soft, hydrating lipstick with healing moringa butter that has Vitamins A & C, while coffee seed extract offers antioxidant protection, orange peel wax, plus ultra-moisturizing avocado and sunflower seed oils, protect the delicate lip area and offer a nurturing, hydrating feel.
We also like the organic pomegranate and blackberry extract scent (instead of the usual, waxy one).
To our surprise, we applied the deep red shade over the lip primer at 8:30 am. By lunchtime, we expected to look like a bad version Bette Davis in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane” but our lipstick remained perfect…no fading, no feathering.
The sleek elongated oval rose gold compact with interior mirror includes shadows that can be worn layered or solo, made with minerals, botanical extracts, and silica.
There are several different compacts, but ours in Naturally Matte includes warm earthy shades that are of medium intensity.
FYI: Jane Iredale’s mineral makeup products are cruelty-free, vegan and gluten-free.
Add some drama with Jane Iredale’s Longest Lash Thickening And Lengthening Mascara ($33) (see photo below) in Black Ice, Brown (Espresso ) and Gray Slate.
Note-able is that this mascara arrives in a soft tube, which is unique. The formula is build-able and won’t irritate your eyes with a lot of harsh chemicals.
While we didn’t see va-va-voom lashes from this product, the Black Ice sample we were given to try tinted our lashes beautifully and made them look super-long. We can live with that!
PurePressed Blush ($30) arrives in a shiny rose gold compact with interior mirror and in ten different natural looking choices. You’ll find that they add a soft wash of color –but don’t be fooled by how soft the colors look on the color swatched or in the compacts.
Ours in “Awake” looked almost powder pink in the compact and even lighter on the website color swatch, but on our cheeks, it was a lovely shade of pink-rose that was fairly intense and could be layered to flatter even the deepest of skin tones nicely.
The non-comedogenic formula with minerals and antioxidants can also be used to define and highlight.
Tip: use a traditional blush brush for more color, or opt for a fan brush to diffuse the color and make it softer.
