Lolita went out on a girl’s night out with some dear friends in 2001 and, as the story goes, she thought the glasses they were drinking their cosmos from, were boring. Boring glasses inspired her to start hand-painting and selling unique glassware out of her basement. The designs commemorate special moments and personalities in life. A cute touch is that each has a drink recipe or little message, on the bottom. The variety of products is dizzlingly fun. The formula worked of course, because today this entrepreneur/artist sells millions of glasses! The Lolita line also includes a new textile line of PJs, Robes, Aprons, beach towels, bath towels, bathroom accessories, outdoor party ware, soy candles…and more.
When it comes to glasses, the most important ones are for special occasions where the glass itself is a treasured keepsake. Since wedding season is nearly upon us, I asked to see one of the decorated wedding glasses. Toasts to the bride and groom are a must-haves at every wedding, and you want the glass or glasses to be super-special. Lolita has several, decorate sets of champagne flutes, but if you’re not into the bubbly and want a wine or non-alcoholic toast, the wine glass in the photo above is a perfect choice. Each painted wedding glass has gold and platinum “diamond” and wedding rings painted all over it, even on the stem and foot. There’s also a recipe for a wedding toast drink on the bottom. This one is a perfect size for red wine, but it’s generously sized so it for grape juice, water, or any other beverage. The shape is so versatile, unlike bridesmaids dresses, these glasses really can be used again. I like to think they will be a romantic touch for newlyweds on a daily basis, or on special occasions like anniversaries.
Each Lolita glass comes beautifully boxed in a hard-sided, glossy “tube” container featuring colorful graphics. Duos, like this champagne flute set decorated with the wedding ring design, come in larger and equally impressive, packaging. The tubes are re–useable (or use them to safely store the glasses when not in use).
Any bride would love to get a set of these (just $24.00 each) for a wedding or shower gift. And check out all the fun, special occasion items – visit the Lolita Store http://www.thelolitastore.com/ Lolita is also on Facebook www.facebook.com/designsbylolita and Twitter @DesignsByLolita
