Two days ago, I reviewed two absolutely wonderful new face products by M.A.C. Cosmetics: Studio Sculpt Foundation and Concealer. But M.A.C. has come up with some exciting new possibilities for lips as well”
The CreamSheen Lipstick features flat pigments and a creamy, moist sheen. My past experiences with cream lipstick hasn’t always been that great, because cream formulas tend to pick up and highlight every flake and flaw on your lips. But M.A.C.’s Creamsheen Lipstick is silky and moisturizing, so it is much more forgiving. For high-wattage shine, add a swipe of Creemsheen Glass. This luxurious, wanded gloss is sheer and has super-high shine. I only tried one of the lipsticks, “Crème In Your Coffee,” a creamy, mid-tone browned pink, which looks slightly deeper than natural lips. There are quite a few colors, though: Crème Cup (light blue/pink); Shy Girl (creamy neutral coral/beige); Crosswires (clean pinky-orange); Lickable (bright clean blue/pink); Lavender Whip (light cool lavender); Spice Is Nice (creamy dark warm brown); and Hang-up (deep berry).
Creamsheen Glass comes in eight colors. “Petite Indulgence” is a mid-tone, bright blue/pink that is perfect for Spring, and since it is so sheer, it’s also universally flattering. “Looks Like Sin” stains lips a gorgeous, sheer, deep berry. There is also: “Ever So Rich (sheer lilac); Fashion Scoop (pale cool baby pink with light pearl); Boy Bait (light neutral beige with pearl); Partial Pink (light creamy yellow pink with light gold pearl); Melt In Your Mouth (mid-tone, creamy clean pink); and Crème Anglaise (mid-tone neutral mauve)
You can prevent feathering of any lipstick and lip gloss better if you use a M.A.C. Creamstick Liner $14.50. I haven’t tried these, specifically, but M.A.C. is known for great lip and eye liner pencils. The newest are: Sublime Culture (neutral pink); Pink Treat (dirty pink); Caramellow (neutral Caramel) and Velvetella (blackened plum).
Lipsticks will be part of the permanent collection and Cremesheen Glass will be available through the end of March 2009.
