Mad Hatter: Desigual Runway Fashion Week in New York SS/2016 , report by Alison Blackman, Editor in Chief, advicesisters.com
Despite the showers outside, it was definitely cheerful, colorful Spring on the runway at Skylight at Moynihan Station for Desigual’s Spring, Summer 2016 show. Inspired by the streets of Barcelona, the bold, joyful prints were matched with crazy headgear . But Desigual adored by women who like self-expression, and the clothing reflects their taste in wild prints and bold colors. Although the overall looks aren’t for the timid, the runway isn’t reality. Consumers will find individual pieces will be fun to own and definitely wear-able.
Intelligence from backstage: Gordon Espinet and the MAC team added orange lips (no nudes here) and Edward Lampley and his team from Amika created cornrows that were no less eye catching than the hats. But the look wasn’t a “perfect 10” for me.
Two versions of amazing hats were predominant: One looked like a rooster’s comb, the other reminded me of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.
Instead of grabbing stock images which will appear on a gazillion other sites, although mine aren’t photo riser quality, all these photos are my own.
For lovers of Designer Desigual Spring/Summer 2016 can’t arrive soon enough!
Note: Unfortunately, fashion week isn’t quite as civilized as it used to be . Although some people used to behave badly, this season it’s a whole new level of selfish. Where I was sitting, a few guests broke the rules stood UP in the middle of show to shoot their own photos and videos (no one stopped them so those in back of them couldn’t see anything or take their own photos/videos). Near me there were others who didn’t seem to notice that this was a professional event, and they also that impacted my ability to take photos and video. I apologize for the less than fab photos.
