Ever since I discovered Make Up Designory (MUD) a few years ago, I’ve been excited about their latest color makeup collections. The last one I reviewed was in October 2011, a Fall-focused collection that was trendy, wearable, and marvellous.
But recently, Make Up Designory has come up with a kit that is really irresistible: the Love at First Sight Kit It came out around Valentine’s Day, but yours truly has been so busy, I didn’t get around to testing it until now…which is not necessarily a bad thing, because the Love at First Sight Kit ($49.95) focuses on pinks, grays and wines, and they’re all trendy colors we saw on the runways for Spring.
One of the nice things about the MUD makeup kits (or collections, if you’d rather) is that they arrive in a cardboard over sleeve (this one in red, with pink hearts and line drawings of beauty products) in one of MUD’s signature, black, nylon zippered makeup bags. While the bag is larger than the one I’d carry in my purse, it is the perfect size to hold all your makeup and beauty essentials for a weekend (or a week) away. The lightweight, fold able bag is a travel companion well worth at least half the cost of the makeup kit!
But of course you’re probably buying the kit/collection to get some nifty, new makeup, and this kit really hits a romantic, but natural, note. Here’s the rundown on the makeup collection:
A deep pewter-colored, cardboard, 4-Hole Eye Color Palette with magnetic closure to hold four eye shadows: Opal Sky (a light-almost-white, opalescent, lavender-blue), Pink Grapefruit (a vibrant melon pink with gold undertones with a lot of pearlesecense), Vineyard (a warm, shimmering burgundy wine that I like layered with the Pink Grapefruit to add even more opalesence) and Graphite (an intense, dark gunmetal gray with a hint of gold shimmer perfect for a smoky eye or a liner). The two lid colors of melon and burgundy are trendy, but both are sheer and layerable so you can have a wash of color, or make an intense eye look. Vineyard, with the Graphite, makes a modern, smoky eye.
….and that’s not all you get. There’s also Sweet Cheeks Color Crème Blush (a very sheer, cream formula blush in a browned-pink);
and Cupid Lip Glaze (a natural sheer pink lip gloss in a squeeze tube that has a fruity scent, that is somewhat layerable for a bit more color).
It’s easy to fall in love, at first sight, with Make Up Designory cosmetics! For more information or to make a purchase (and check out all the other makeup products, palettes and kits), please visit http://www.mudshop.com/
