Take these little Monsters with you (and have a much better trip)

My luddite friend (“Susie”) thinks no matter how outdated a tech gadget is, it’s “good” until it falls apart or breaks. Her phone is circa. 1998. “I don’t need apps, I’ve gotten alone my entire life without them,” she insists. But when we travel together, I’m the one who uses my android phone for our boarding passes, directions, reservations, directions and information. Susie loves to read but won’t buy an e-reader. She carries a paper calendar and a memo pad (what happens if she loses these)? Her camera uses film. When I takes photos with my phone, she’ll sheepishly ask for a copy.
Susie’s a bit unusual, but most of us would agree that she’s missing out on a lot of the things that help make life (and especially, travel), easier, more successful and more fun. With that in mind, I’ve selected three nifty items from Monster Products that make my travels better. If you’re looking to add some new “tech toys” to your life, it is time for an upgrade! That is, unless you’re Susie!
Monster Sports Headphones that fold for travel make workouts fun and stylish:
It’s no secret that we’re fans of “Monster Sound.” We have reviewed a number of Monster headphones, including the unmatched, Monster DNA Pro over the ear headphones, the stunning Monster 24K over the ear headphones, and both the Monster corded and the Bluetooth HD CLARITY earbuds, We’ve loved them all, for different reasons, but through all of the reviews one thing remains constant: Monster quality is the standard by which we judge other headphones. When I personally pick a headphone, it’s always a ‘Monster.”
In selecting a stylish and effective workout headphone, I picked these Monster iSport Freedom On‑Ear Bluetooth Headphones (Srp. $199.95) for that review, initially for its great looks. But it’s a sports headphone won’t fall off your head when you’re working out. The rubber ear cups are waterproof, sweatproof and easy to clean and they uncompromisingly stay on your ears. Moreover, they’re incredible eye-catching, in neon lime green so you can be seen by cars, cyclists, etc. They make a true fashion statement.
The thing that makes these also so great for the gym rat that travels is that they fold. They are also bluetooth enabled so you can pop them in their included toggle carry-bag in your gym bag, tote, or for travel. They have a lovely, ControlTalk cable with microphone for listening in a passive, battery-free mode. They can be used with a cord if you forget to charge the Bluetooth. As we’ve mentioned in earlier reviews, the controls on the ControlTalk cable are designed as a round disk without raised guides. This looks really nice, but until you get used to it, you may fumble around a bit for the functions you want. The headphones themselves have raised icons to help you feel what function you’re seeking while they’re on your head, which really helps. The Bluetooth pairs quickly and easily with Bluetooth (Apt-X + AAC) with very good wireless sound quality.
For at home listening, I’d probably choose other headphones as these are really for active sports. I would choose the amazing Monster DNA Pros or another similar headphone from Monster). But these headphones are true sports headphones made for active sports, and they work admirably for this. One of our testers found them less comfy on the ear than some of the plushier cousins, but most of our testers thought they were just fine. As to the sound, it’s Monster quality. The mid-range is excellent and open and with reasonable bass and treble. The sound is good at most listening levels. The headphones block noise but they don’t completely isolate you from your environment. If you’re outside with them, you will still be aware of what is around you, important for your safety. . All in all, they’re a nifty sports headphone that will give you “freedom” to roam and enjoy music and phone calls while looking enviably stylish, anywhere, any time. Monster’s little Superstar Speaker travels easily and has big sound for calls and music from a mighty mini:
Mini can be pretty mighty, if the speaker is from Monster. Whether you need to make a hands free conference call, or you’re staging an impromptu dance party, or just want to drown out the sound of the man snoring in the next hotel room with some soothing sounds, This Monster Superstar, High Powered Portable Wireless Speaker (Srp $129.95) is all you need when you travel, for your desk, or at home. The Monster Superstar is touted as the world’s smallest audiophile speaker. I’m not sure if that’s really true, but I do know that it is surely a sleek speaker with a sexy, splash-resistant design that is only about the size of a large smart phone, and not much wider. I admit I was surprised that it really delivers a whopping, clear as a bell, large sound from any smart phone or music player, thanks to two front full-range drivers, one front bass radiator and one rear bass radiator. It comes in black with silver, or bright blue or black with a sort of neon green and silver accent.
On the road, should, you find yourself stuck in an airport, for example, or snowed in a hotel room with some colleagues, you can use this Monster Superstar speaker for conference calls, or just for hands free conversation thanks to a microphone which sounds really clear. Again, the thing that is so remarkable about this is that it is small enough to fit in a pocket, a backpack or a briefcase. The speaker has the usual functions such as volume adjustment buttons/power switch, and it easily syncs with most mobile devices even a reasonable distance. You can lie it flat and it will still sound good. At just 0.5 lbs. 5″ in length by 2.55″ in width and 0.86 inches in diameter it’s the perfect take-along item. The bluetooth is nice, but you can use a cord, too.
As to the sound, it is loud, with the signature Monster signature, although it doesn’t have as much well blended, rich sound as some of the superb Monster headphones we’re used to. However, as a speakerphone and mini travel speakers, we’re loving it. This would make a fabulous wedding or graduation gift, or for father’s day. I’m not leaving home without mine again! you can find the Monster Power Superstar High Definition Bluetooth Speaker in a lot of different places and prices vary. The Best Surge Protector/Multi-Plug ever is from Monster (you’ll never leave on a trip without it):
Monster makes lots of other things besides headphones and speakers including one of the best travel wall outlets/chargers we’ve ever used. This little Monster Mobile Outlets to Go 300 (srp. $24.95) is so mighty and so simple, this little lifesaver is the best tech toy friend I’ve ever found.
There are 3 AC outlets and 2 High Power USb ports for rapid charging and a retractable plug that folds into the unit for maximum portability in a unit that is smaller than a flip phone (remember those). It’s compatible with digital cameras of all types, camcorders, tablets, smart phones, laptops, handheld gaming devices, e-readers, cell phones, iphones, ipads, ipods, mp3 players, and just about any other digital device you can think of. It even used to charge my husband’s antiquated blackberry. There is one three prong outlet on the front with two usb quick chargers, one for tablets one for phones and mp3 players, and on the back two more 3 prong outlets. I have plugged converters into these when there is simply no more space and only one outset that will allow me to do so and charged literally everyone from this one device.
There are different types of Monster Power Mobile Outlets to Go but this one folds completely flat and is lightweight. If you put an adaptor plug at the end of it (overseas) you then have enough outlets for your phone, your computer, your music player, etc. The last overseas press trip I took my fancy multi-converter failed, but the Monster unit didn’t, allowing me to use my computer, phone, camera, etc. Without it, I wouldn’t have had any charging power at all. It also has a built in surge protector. My husband and I have literally fought over who gets to take it on business trips if we’re going at the same time and used to pass it back and forth so we finally had to get another one. You can find these Monster Outlets To Go 3 outlets on places like Amazon and a variety of other electronics stores on and off-line, prices vary. Visit the Monster Products website to learn more
