What’s in store For Fall 2015? NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars, offers up wear-able but on-trend shades for eyes, lips, and cheeks. The look begins with natural sculpting of the face. Eyes dramatize in smoky shimmering brown and golden ombré. Lips captivate in tones of iconic red. For this collection, François Nars was inspired by the eyes. As he says it best, “It just seemed like the collection needed to revolve around eyes and especially how eye color and texture can convey not just character and mood but a period in time, be it an era or a decade or even a season.”
New this season is the launch of the NARS Velvet Shadow Stick ($28.00) , a silky, velvety shadow in a range of sumptuous shades for layering under and over, blending and setting, creating looks that are modern, sophisticated and always tempting. We tried one of these swivel-up Velvet Shadow Sticks in Sukothai, a smoldering, blackened deep green that can be blended out our worn deep and mysterious. The color is easy top apply but once on your lids, it stays put.
Hollywoodland – Pale Gold
Aigle Noir – Black infused with gold shimmer
Glénan – Navy
Goddess – Pink Champagne
Oaxaca – Quartz
Sukhothai – Shimmering Peacock
Flibuste – Black
Reykjavik – Grey
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow, $29.00 was launched last year, and we loved how versatile it is, and the way it you use it for drama, wet or dry. we checked out Telesto, a burnished brown/gold. Worn dry — it gives a wash of color to more shimmery intensity with layers, but worn wet, it’s seriously deep, dramatic and almost metallic. The other color is “Pasiphae,” a shimmering peacock.
There’s just one new NARS Lipstick, $27.00 and it’s a super color “VIP Red”. Enjoy this Fall-centric dark brique. NARS knows how to make flattering reds that are universal, and this one is made modern with a red that is really more maroon with some brown brown tones in a matte finish that makes for a deep, dramatic lip look (but not “goth”).
NARS Lip Gloss is one of our favorites: silky, luxurious, long lasting, shiny, The Lip Gloss, $26.00 for Fall 2015 is one of two. There is “Chelsea Girls,” a soft beige-y pink and the one we chose to try called “Baby Doll.” Billed as shimmering Candy Pink it appears fairly deep in the tube, but adds just enough tint to lips to be a gloss with more than just shine. It’s shimmery, but just enough to make your lips pouty, not crazy.
Blush was downplayed (or downright absent) on the faces of the models of many runway shows for Fall 2015, but I personally think a bit of blush can do wonders for a less than wonderful complexion. The NARS Fall 2015 Blush, $30.00 is “Tribulation” which is touted as a “shimmery rosy sand ,” but in my opinion this is not a traditional blush to add color to your cheeks, but more of a pearly highlighter that needs to be used sparingly. If you like a “dewy” look you’ll love Tribulation, but I wanted a bit more rose and a bit less sand.
