Not into floral scents? How about Fruits? Bath & Bodyworks will be launching some new scents in March and April that will get your attention this Spring and Summer. The Advice Sisters got a sneak peek of Orange Sapphire and Berry Vanilla (one of four new vanilla-centric scents including coconut vanilla, lemon vanilla, and apricot vanilla), and two re-imaginings of other popular Bath & Bodyworks floral scents such as Sweet Pea Forever, and Moonlight These will be launching March Through August. I don’t have photos of these either– they’re not quite ready for their close-ups, but I did get a preliminary whiff–and I like what I smell!
Berry Vanilla’s top notes are wild Summer blue berry, Meyer lemon, and juicy bergamot. The heart is blackberry extract, ambrette seed, watery cyclamen, and beach peony, while the drydown contains Madagascar vanilla cream, raspberry sugar, and butter cream musk. If this sounds like something good enough to eat, you’re right! My first impression was that it smelled like raspberry ice cream — succulent, bursting with juicy fruits, and cream. For some, it may seem “young” and light, but it is the kind of scent that once you’ve slathered it on via Body Lotion $12.00, or spritzed it on with a Fragrance Mist or Cooling Mist $12.00/each, or enjoyed the scent in a Shower Gel $12.00, and even better, with a tasty Lip Gloss $7.00, you’ll find that people (especially men) want to get up close and breathe in this yummy scent. The vanilla-centric scents are available April through August only, and I’m betting you’ll want at least one of the four.
I really love Orange Sapphire, part of Bath & Bodyworks‘ Signature Collection. It features a grown-up version of a fruity floral, highlighting the sparkling, juicy, scent of blood oranges. Top notes include: succulent blood orange, tarocco orange, sparkling grapefruit, Sicilian bergamot, vibrant mandarin, davana, black current buds, juicy raspberry, and sparkling peach. The heart is a veritable wedding bouquet of white jasmine flower, sheer orange blossom, Chinese magnolia, orchid petals, freesia and muget, while the bottom notes include intoxicating musk, light patchouli, soft vetiver, white amger, vanilla infusion, golden honey, cognac and myrrh. You really smell the succulent blood orange right away and it makes you feel uplifted and happy. But this complex scent starts to announce some of it’s romantic, floral notes note long afterward. And, as the scent dries down, you can sense the spicy, exotic and sensual bottom notes, too. Although this is a budget-minded collection, the creators are Peiro Savio and Claude Dir, who is a master perfumer that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting personally a couple of times. Orange Sapphire is a well blended mix that will have you sniffing your wrists, arms, etc. You won’t be able to stop! That’s how enticing it is! Amazingly, the collection is so affordable, you can layer without going broke: Shower Gel $10.50; Body Lotion $10.50, Eau de Toilette $29.50, Fragrance Mist $12.00, Bubble Bath $12.00, Hand Cream $10.00, Body Butter $15.00, Triple Moisture Shower Cream $12.00, Triple Moisture Body Cream $12.00
From March Through August you can also enjoy re-imaginings of other popular Bath & Bodyworks floral scents such as Sweet Pea Forever, and Moonlight Magic.
Sweet Pea Forever, created by master perfumer Adriana Medina, is a nod to the flower children of the 1960s, with top notes of sparkling bergamot, vibrant mandarin, juicy orange, succulent peach nectar, dewy-drenched apricot, crisp watery apple, and violet leaves. The exotic floral heart has pink marigold, gerber daisy, intoxicating tuberose, tiare flower, black currant, nectarine, gardenia, and orange blossom, and the drydown tempers all this sweetness with sheer woods and sunkissed musk. I expected a tropical feel to this, but what I mostly sensed was the fruit. It’s cheerful and fun.
Moonlight Magic also smells uplifting and happy, but the fruits are tempered by the bottom notes of coconut musk, captive, creamy vanilla, sandalwood, and white amber. It is these notes that come through immediately over the heart of gardenia petals, Jasmin and peach nectar, and the top notes of luscious strawberry, wild goji berries and ripe raspberry. Created by master perfumer Honorine Blanc, the overall effect upon drydown is of berries that have been crushed and wrapped in a sensual blanket of flowers with vanilla and musk. It’s pretty, and makes a nice day to evening transition. There’s a shower gel $10.50; Body Lotion $10.50, Eau de Toilette $29.50, Fragrance Mist $12.00 and Triple Moisture Body Cream $12.00
Get these fun fragrances to change up your fragrance wardrobe, and you won’t go broke…but you will smell nice! Get them at Bath & Bodyworks stores or online, between March and August 2010, only.
