It is truly an exciting day when you get to hear all about a truly innovative launch of an accessory all women wear but often take for granted, and you also get to be inspired by a young woman who has an amazing personal story and is now a fabulous spokesperson for a leading brand. In other words, a couple of weeks ago I got my morning wakeup from Hanes, along with inspiration from Yoga and Lifestyle expert ( and host of “Rock Your Yoga,” a daily show on the syndicated Veria Living network), Sadie Nardini. She also has a new book coming out in November called The 21 Day Yoga Body) and she was introduced as Hane’s new lifestyle and wellness ambassador. She told us that Hanes has always been a part of her life, and that she feels it is fantastic that Hanes Hosiery has developed a product like “Pure Bliss” that helps women to feel good in each and every day they wear. She also shared her inspiring personal story of overcoming a serious childhood illness through yoga, and gave us some food for thought — among them: dress up more, multi-task your life, work smarter not harder (do you really need to use precious time to update your Facebook status a gazillion times a day), stop worrying about how others see you, delegate, and breathe (deeply and through your nose, exhaling longer using your breath to calm your body).
But editors were primarily there to view and learn about the Hanes latest Hosiery line called Pure Bliss. Hanes is the #1 selling Hosieryy brand in department stores, and I am willing to bet that most of my female readers got their first stockings, pantyhose, and/or tights, from Hanes. But, the latest and greatest from Hanes isn’t just about making your legs look good, they have to feel good (and be healthy), too. Younger women, (e,g. Millenials), in particular, care about wellness and want to integrate that into all aspects of their daily lives. Hanes obviously knows this, so they are filling the need with “Silk Reflections Pure Bliss”. This legwear collection for Fall 2013/14 uses breakthrough knitting technology combined with innovative yarns that micro-massage the legs with bi-directional graduated compression. What this does, according to the experts, is invigorate your legs all day and evening, with hoisery that certainly isn’t your mom’s or grandma’s thick, coarse or opaque compression hose. These are sheer to semi-sheer, and like foundation, blur imperfections so your legs look sleek and perfect. But you also get the health and wellness benefits of the massaging compression. Pretty neat, don’t you think?!
If you want to try these, check the size chart carefully and be honest about your height and weight (I will reiterate this below, because when your panty hose is too big or too small, misery, follows –and there’s no need for that)! I went up two sizes past my normal, in these new styles and they fit well. Had I insisted upon my normal size, I would not have been as comfy.
There are two basic styles: Pure Bliss Luxe Sheer, and Pure Bliss Opaque. The sheer style is not totally evening sheer, but it does make legs look good and the luxe sheer feels silky and lightweight. The sheers are available in natural, barely there, gentelbrown, barelyblack and jet in sizes AB, CD, and EF. The Pure Bliss Opaque is available in Mocha and Black, in sizes AB, CD and EF. If you’re looking for something truly new and innovative, get yourself a couple of pairs of each! They’re $13.00 each, but the way they make your legs feel after a long day …maybe. priceless!
We also got a chance to see some of the Fall 2013 Legwear goodies from Hanes. One particular item I love is the Hanes Convert-A-Tights, that let you wear them without the foot, as leggings, but when you feel like wearing them as tights, you can simply pull down a toe pocket and slip your tootsies, in. There are four colors: black, blackberry, coffee bean, and fig and each is $15.00. These opaque, multi-taskers are available in five sizes: AB, CD, EF, GH, and IJ. As I’ve said above. sizes may vary so consult the package size chart, and be honest about your height and weight. These convertible tights are the absolute perfect thing to pack for a vacation, or for road warriors.
Another style I really like is the Hanes Silk Reflections High Waist Tights in black. What makes these unique is that the high waist makes it easier to look sleek under body conscious clothing. And the soft, opaque yarn is sensual, while the comfort stretch control top means you won’t have any bulges where you don’t want them. There are five sizes; AB, CD, EF, GH, and IJ and the tights arer $14.00. I would caution you that you may find yourself wondering, when you consult the size chart, why you’re not in your usual size range. I’m guessing it has to do with the control top, but be honest with yourself and get the size you know is going to fit. Too tight, tights. are not fun to wear! If you are really on the cusp between sizes, choose the larger one.
Traditionalists will find that for Fall, Hanes has new styles of opaque tights and some glamorous, control top styles featuring shimmery legs for special events, in black with gold and silver with silver. There are also plaid burnout and chevron burnout tights, and even some argyle tights withe texture ($10.00) in three sizes: AB, CD and EF.
