Now that New Years Eve is almost here, along with a new year, I’m loving the Senna Cosmetic’s Multi Makeup Palette. This is a true, face-in-a-case kit with everything you need for a night out, or a vacation away. For starters, the large, square compact is an elegant, burnished gold, with a large, square, interior mirror. It’s elegant, and slim so you can pop it into a handbag. But the compact still holds a wealth of products: three lipsticks, three eye colors, duo blushes, and a highlighter — and the mini applicators to go with them.
If you are not familiar with Senna Cosmetics, they are the creation of Eugenia Weston, a makeup artist who was nominated for an Emmy award in 1993 for her work with Bette Midler on the TV movie ‘Gypsy’, Weston learned film makeup from Disney Studio makeup stalwarts Robert Schiffer and Bob Mills. She has worked on major entertainment videos for Michael Jackson, Bette Midler and Lisa Marie Presley. So she knows what works, and what doesn’t. The colors are fairly intense, with shimmery lip and eye colors, but everything works together and they are all easily blended. There is a “parchment” overlay on the compact with the names and functions of every color. Here’s how the compact is organized:
3 Eye Colors: Tempest a creamy, shimmery champagne), Lyric (a mauved brown with a little shimmer), and Seduction (a shimmery bronze)
3 Lip Colors: Geisha ( a shimmery berry red) Debutante (a creamy, light pink), and Enchantress (a glitzy gold shimmer)
1 Sparkling Highlighter: Inspiration (this creamy ivory highlighter is fairly opaque, but blends into a light, lovely, golden shimmer that adds just a touch of golden glow.
2 Blush Colors: Mademoiselle Duo (a medium pink and medium peach can be blended together or used separately. Shimmer is barely there.
3 Brushes: Mini Face, Lip & Shadow/Liner (these are fine for travel, but for every day it is always a better idea to use a full sized brush).
These colors are mostly neutral toned, and let you create a lot of looks in what is actually a very compact, compact. Create a soft day look with Tempest Eye Color and Lyric in the eye crease, your Mademoiselle blush, and Debutante Lipstick. Glam it up for night by adding Seduction Eye Color to line and make eyes smoky. Change lips to Geisha Lipstick with a dab of Enchantress on the lower lip. Highlight cheeks, eyes, and brow bone with Inspiration Highlighter.
Senna’s ‘Diva Divine’ Multi Makeup Palette retails for $39.00 and is a great value considering everything you get — treat yourself before the year ends and start the New Year with a new look!
The Diva Divine palette may be all you need for on the go, but there are two other Senna Cosmetics products that I really liked as well from their “Mineral Mix” collection. These are mineral makeup items that are good for sensitive skin, free of talc, wax, oils and dyes. They reflect light away from lines and wrinkles, and even provide some SPF protection (*mineral makeup isn’t often rated for SPF, so you still need to wear plenty of good sunscreen under these products, every day).
